Your primary tasks will be: Review and assessment of geological and geochemical documentation related to CCS in basaltic rocks.

Assessment of storage capacity, injection potential, and long-term mineralization potential in basalt

Contribute to risk assessments, monitoring plans, and documentation for compliance with regulations.

Handling and validation of geological, geochemical, and subsurface data

Preparation of technical notes, summaries, and reports for decision-makers

Coordination with project developers, researchers, and authorities
Your profile:
We are looking for a geologist with a relevant educational background in geology, geochemistry, or another field within geoscience, and we prefer applicants with an MSc or PhD degree. It would be an advantage if you have knowledge of CCS, CO₂ mineralization, or fluid-rock interaction, as well as experience with regulatory frameworks, permitting processes, or work within public administration is viewed positively.
The position requires experience in project management as well as strong analytical skills, good writing abilities, and a structured approach to problem-solving. Additionally, it would be an advantage if you have a forklift certificate, but this is not a requirement.
As a person, you work in a structured manner and are detail-oriented, and you thrive in operating at the intersection of science, regulation, and politics. You are able to communicate complex geological issues clearly and understandably to non-specialists and collaborators with different professional backgrounds.
It is an advantage if you have knowledge of Greenlandic language and culture. For applicants outside Greenland, emphasis will be placed on the ability, willingness, and desire to work and live under different cultural conditions than those accustomed to.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
If your profile and geological experience are suitable, there will be an opportunity for employment as a special consultant.
The working hours are 40 hours a week.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
