The Department of Geology is seeking an AC Advisor or Specialist Consultant for the Landslide Group. The work involves landslide monitoring, mapping, and risk analyses. You will participate in the development and implementation of strategies and analyses, as well as plan and conduct fieldwork. Qualifications include experience with GIS, programming, and risk management.
The Department of Geology is seeking an AC officer or special consultant for the Landslide Group. Do you have an interest in working with landslide monitoring, mapping, and risk analyses? Then you might be the person we need for the monitoring effort in the Department of Geology.
About the position
The landslide group is dedicated to increasing community safety against landslides and related events such as tsunami surges. You will be part of a smaller team for an area that is rapidly developing. We are looking for a colleague with relevant skills to strengthen our team and contribute to landslide monitoring. Some travel activities and fieldwork are to be expected throughout the year.

Your tasks will be: Daily monitoring of landslide areas with the help of a monitoring system

Monthly publication of situation assessments

Regional screening for potentially unstable rock masses

Participate in the development and implementation of monitoring strategies and risk analyses in collaboration with relevant authorities, local communities, and international partners.

Plan and conduct fieldwork, including measurements with drones and seismic equipment.

Quality assurance, analysis, organization, and dissemination of collected field data

Advise decision-makers

Implement an information campaign and build capacity for a nationwide integrated risk management for landslide hazards.

Collaboration with research environments to develop monitoring efforts tailored to Greenlandic conditions.
The right candidate has qualifications and competencies in:
Professional qualifications

We imagine that you: Have a relevant professional education, for example, geologist, geographer, remote sensing specialist, engineer, or similar.

Has knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and/or programming.

Willing to have experience with risk management and natural hazards.

Personal competencies It is an advantage if you speak Greenlandic, Danish, and English.

You are committed and good at collaborating.

Strong communication skills

You work independently and meet deadlines.

You have knowledge of Greenlandic societal conditions.

It is an advantage if you have experience with fieldwork in remote regions.

We are about 40 employees in the Department of Business, Raw Materials, Energy, Justice, and Gender Equality. The position is organizationally located in the Department of Geology, which consists of 1 department head and 11 geoscientific employees.
The Department of Geology is the primary geoscientific advisor on raw materials for the Government of Greenland.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The working hours are, as a starting point, 40 hours a week.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
