Doctor with Obstetric Experience

We are looking for a doctor with obstetric experience for a 3-month locum at the hospital in Tasiilaq. You will work closely with experienced colleagues and receive thorough training. The hospital has 19 beds and offers a wide range of health services. There are opportunities for village visits and an active leisure life in the stunning nature.

We are looking for a doctor with obstetric experience, a specialist in surgery, and preferably also with knowledge of general medicine, for a 3-month temporary position – preferably longer – or by agreement.

Commencement on July 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

Non-specialist doctors with good knowledge and experience are also welcome to apply.

The hospital in Tasiilaq is a well-functioning hospital that has 19 beds for patients in all categories.

We have both a bedroom department and a medical consultation. There is a midwife consultation and health care.

There is always anesthesia staff in the house, and we have a laboratory with a bioanalyst.

We have X-ray facilities and the possibility to conduct ultrasound examinations, an eye clinic with telemedicine, and a dental clinic on site.

The hospital is the birthplace and has surgical readiness as such. But you as an applicant will not be left alone in the operating room or be alone on duty with surgical issues unless you can and want to.

There will always be a surgically experienced doctor present.

We offer:

  • A thorough introduction.
  • An exciting everyday life with diverse challenges. Here, no two days are the same, as we receive a wide range of patients and therefore must constantly treat based on each individual's situation.
  • A good and close collaboration with experienced and permanent colleagues who will provide you with sparring, support, and assistance.
  • Surgically experienced colleagues on site – you will not have to face surgical challenges alone unless you want to and can.
  • A good community where there is a good connection between you and the staff and the other substitutes.
  • Good collaboration with other authorities and institutions - the hospital is an important part of the community, and we are proud of that.
  • Possibility of possibly visiting one or more of our 5 villages - by boat, helicopter, or snowmobile - of course depending on weather conditions and medical staffing.

We are looking for you who:

  • Is curious, open, and interested.
  • I enjoy working together with others, also across different professional groups, and I have good collaboration skills.
  • Works with great flexibility and independence.
  • Is calm and well-balanced, so you can create security and provide the patient with a good experience and the best treatment.
  • Finally, you will work and live close to magnificent nature with plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities.
