About the position:
The Veterinary and Food Authority in Greenland (VFMG) is responsible for veterinary and food-related work throughout Greenland. As a veterinarian, you will be part of this work, where in addition to your daily tasks, you will have the opportunity to contribute to innovation and long-term development for VFMG.
The position includes opportunities for many diverse areas of responsibility and tasks, and you are involved in setting the framework depending on your interests and competencies in collaboration with colleagues and other partners.
Some of VFMG's areas of responsibility:
Operation of the national vaccination program against canine distemper and parvovirus, as well as rabies, including the holding of authorization courses for municipal dog vaccinators.
Supervision, advice, and case processing in the animal welfare and animal health sector, including;

Veterinary assessment and supervision of sled dogs.

Telemedicine consultations with sled dog owners.

Supervision and herd visits as well as clinical work with cattle and sheep farmers.

Handling of animal welfare cases.
Supervision, advice, and case processing in the food sector.
Tasks within VFMG's agreements with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, including;

the veterinary EU Border Control Post activities (border control).
Preparation of legislation and guidelines for veterinary and food safety work in Greenland.
Ministerial service.
About VFMG:
Structurally, the main department is located with an office in Nuuk. In addition, a veterinarian is based in Ilulissat. We cover all of Greenland in our areas of responsibility regarding animal husbandry, animal welfare, animal health, zoonoses, supervision and advice for food businesses, meat inspection, and other governmental work, such as ministerial and citizen services, border control, etc.
You will be placed in Nuuk and be part of the daily work at VFMG, which is a dynamic workplace where new tasks continuously arise. Here, you will report to the head of the Veterinary and Food Authority.
About you:
You must be a qualified veterinarian (Cand.med.vet) with Danish authorization.
In the assessment of applicants, we will emphasize that you:

are you interested in overseeing, advising, and processing cases in the field of animal welfare and animal health,

is good at expressing yourself both orally and in writing,

is multilingual. The working language in the administration is primarily Danish and to a lesser extent English. It is a great advantage if you can speak and write Greenlandic.
