Employee with a Health Professional Background

The residential unit Manngua 6 is seeking an employee with a health professional background to support residents with mental and physical disabilities in Nuuk. The position is full-time with day, evening, and weekend shifts. You will work closely with colleagues to help residents develop their skills and enhance their quality of life.

The Disability and Social Psychiatry is looking for a healthcare professional for Manngua 6. If you have your heart in the right place and want to make a difference for our residents, you are exactly who we need as our new colleague.

The position is a full-time job of 40 hours a week, with day, evening, and weekend shifts. You will work closely with your colleagues to support our residents in their development.

The residential unit Manngua 6 is one of the Disability and Social Psychiatry's residential units in Nuuk, and has residents aged 18 and older, with mental and physical disabilities. Your core task will be to help the residents develop their mental, physical, and social skills, so they can live as independently as possible. Together with your colleagues, you will support the residents in living a good and fulfilling life as they wish. In addition to our 9 residents, the residential unit consists of 14 staff members.

Your tasks:

  • To work on developing residents towards a higher degree of self-sufficiency and increased quality of life, among other things through working with residents with action plans.
  • To motivate and support the residents in daily activities such as walking, shopping, cooking, and doctor visits.
  • To strengthen the community in the housing unit through collaboration with colleagues, leaders, and residents.

The tasks are carried out in close collaboration with the other staff and partners of the residential unit, including Ikaarsaarfik, SANA, the police, the criminal justice system, and caseworkers.

We expect that you:

  • Is educated in health.
  • Is caring and welcoming, and sees that it is the way to a good working environment.
  • Want to develop yourself and our department so that it makes a meaningful difference for the resident.
  • Works independently and collaborates with other professional groups
  • Is stable and adaptable in a busy everyday life.
  • If you have experience in psychiatry, it is an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

In this position, you will become part of a larger community: We are a department with eight housing units, five housing collectives, two activity and social offers, as well as three support teams located in Nuuk, Tasiilaq, and Paamiut.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only commence once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
