Chief People Officer

We are looking for a Chief People Officer to lead the HR and staffing department at Royal Arctic Line. You will have strategic responsibility for developing people, culture, and organization in a critical societal company in Greenland. The position involves managing HR strategies, employee development, and ensuring well-being and psychological safety.

Would you like to lead the development of people, culture, and organization in a socially critical company with a very special role in Greenland? Then you might be the one we are looking for as our new Chief People Officer.

As CPO, you will have overall responsibility for the company's HR and staffing department and become a central part of the company's strategic management. You must ensure that the people, culture, and structures support both the business and the society we are a part of.

About the position

As CPO, you report to the DCEO and have overall management responsibility for the HR and staffing department. You work closely with the executive team and leaders across the organization to ensure that the HR strategy is closely linked to the business strategy.

You will play a key role in strengthening employee engagement, well-being, psychological safety, and a strong and shared company culture – both on land and at sea.

Your primary areas of responsibility

Strategic and operational management of HR

  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company's overall goals.
  • Ensure effective and scalable HR processes in areas such as recruitment, onboarding, contract management, and management support.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies – nationally and internationally.
  • Drive employee development, talent development, and mandatory training and certification programs.
  • Promote well-being, engagement, psychological safety, and a strong shared culture.
  • Ensure strategic and operational staffing of the company's ships with a focus on safety, well-being, and compliance.
  • Responsibility for recruitment, staffing planning, and contract management for crews
  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and development opportunities in staffing work.
  • Develop and implement programs for employee and talent development.
  • Strengthen the physical and mental work environment with a focus on safety and well-being.
  • Drive engagement measurements and subsequent initiatives that strengthen community and culture.
  • Manage negotiations with respective interest organizations for both maritime and land personnel.
  • Drive and anchor initiatives in diversity and inclusion
  • Further develop and digitize HR processes and ensure solid documentation.
  • Work structured with risk management and compliance within HR and staffing.
  • Has solid experience from a leading HR position with strategic responsibility
  • Has strong competencies in organizational development, culture, and change management.
  • Is a skilled communicator and collaborator at all levels of the organization.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of labor law, HR law
  • Has strong negotiation skills
  • Is empathetic, engaging, and clear as a leader.
  • Works in a structured, analytical, and results-oriented manner.
  • Has a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership HR role.
  • Masters both Greenlandic and Danish
