Avannaata Municipality is seeking an Operations Manager in Ilulissat to oversee the operation of roads, cemeteries, sewage, cranes, pontoon bridges, and waste management. Avannaata Municipality is seeking an Operations Manager for the Operations Department in Ilulissat. A strong person with knowledge in mechanics, general management, and an interest in the city's development is sought.
The position is a permanent employment that aims to ensure the operation of roads, cemeteries, cranes, waste management, etc. in Ilulissat and Ilulissat's 4 settlements, which are Ilimanaq, Oqaatsut, Qeqertaq, and Saqqaq.
You will have a daily workplace in Ilulissat, where you will have good opportunities to lead and motivate the operational staff, where you will be the leader of 1 operations assistant, 2 foremen, and around 50 employees in the contracting department, waste collectors, employees at the incineration plant, reception station, and dump, as well as dog vaccinators.
Within the department's areas, you will work with
To provide good citizen service, i.e., to investigate, understand, and process customer inquiries or refer to the appropriate authority.
Ensure responsible operation and supply within the technical area as decided by the municipal council.
Ensure that well-considered applications for construction wishes are submitted to the construction department each year, addressing the building and construction needs in Ilulissat and the associated settlements.
Ensure effective budgeting by following the action plan for the budget and creating monthly reports for the department head.
Ensure continued development and skill enhancement of the staff within operations and supply.
·Work together with the staff in Ilulissat to ensure that Ilulissat becomes part of the common structures in Avannaata Municipality.
Ensure that the staff within operations and supply have the same goals and tools for handling daily tasks.
You will be involved in realizing political goals, including the implementation of new initiatives, delegation of everyday tasks, as well as training and motivating employees.
Competencies
·Has a craft background such as mechanic, machinist, carpenter, electrician, or similar.
The ability to motivate and inspire your surroundings
·Good language skills in both Greenlandic and Danish
Interest in working in a politically led organization
·Good collaboration skills
Understanding the importance of meeting citizens at eye level and with respect
·Has at least a driver's license B, advantage for a large driver's license
Knowledge of the budget and can work within the budget.
·Preferably management experience
