Psychologist

Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic in Nuuk is seeking two psychologists for full-time positions. The work involves individual psychotherapeutic processes and interdisciplinary collaboration. The focus is on anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention. Supervision and professional development are offered. The application deadline is January 12, 2026, with a start date of February 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Are you interested in becoming part of an exciting workplace where you will manage individual psychotherapeutic processes in collaboration with a competent interdisciplinary staff group? – Then you might be the one we are looking for at the Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic in Nuuk.

We are currently seeking two psychologists to fill two full-time positions at the Adult Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, starting on February 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. If the applicant has previous experience in adult psychiatry, the possibility of a temporary position of at least six months can be discussed. Most workplaces in Denmark allow for leave to be taken in connection with employment in Greenland.

Tasks in the Adult Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic

At the Adult Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic, treatment is provided for adults with psychiatric disorders. The clinic serves the population across Greenland, which means you will be responsible for managing outpatient treatment processes with both physically present patients and patients participating in consultations via tele-solutions (primarily Microsoft Teams). The psychology group manages treatment packages for anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention. The clinic's anxiety and depression programs consist of 10-12 sessions and are generally organized based on a cognitive framework. For suicide prevention programs, patients are offered 6-8 sessions, and the program is structured based on the CAMS framework (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality), in which you will receive training upon your employment. There is a lot of independent work, including planning and organizing patient processes. Occasionally, there is also a debriefing function with staff on the inpatient wards at Queen Ingrid's Hospital. The clinic's adult psychologists are based at Nuuk's industrial harbor, alongside the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry – still maintaining a close connection and physical proximity to Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk.

Working conditions and professionalism - Supervision, competence development, and interdisciplinary collaboration

The Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic is a workplace that focuses on community and well-being. We also place high importance on supervision and the professional development of employees, which is why all employed psychologists are offered weekly group supervision. Similarly, the suicide prevention team in the adult area is offered CAMS supervision. Additionally, there is the opportunity to apply for funds for courses and skill development with a permanent position. To ensure the quality of patient treatment and strengthen a holistic focus, there is close collaboration with the chief physicians in daily operations, as well as a weekly conference for doctors and psychologists. A large portion of the work also involves collaboration with interpreters in the area, which supports a relevant and culturally sensitive offer. It is therefore an advantage if you have experience with and thrive in close interdisciplinary collaboration, also in connection with direct patient contact. Furthermore, there are regular professional presentations both internally and externally at the hospital. To maintain the sense of community in our fantastic team, we have established regular meeting agreements for internal knowledge sharing and well-being time over a shared breakfast every Friday. We often also meet after work and for activities organized by the staff association.

Management and development of the Psychiatric Area

The psychiatric area is overall led by a chief physician and head nurse. In addition to the outpatient psychologist and specialist function, the Psychiatric Area consists of an inpatient department with space for 12 patients, psychiatric therapy, district psychiatry, social worker function, and a child and adolescent outpatient clinic. Additionally, there are interpreters, patient coordinators, and medical secretaries. In your daily work, you will be part of a psychologist group, which is staffed for eight psychologists, of whom four psychologists are associated with adult psychiatry.
