The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking professionally strong and pedagogically motivated teachers for the School in Sermiligaaq – locally known as Sermiligaami Alivarpi.
Sermiligaami Alivarpi is located in the village of Sermiligaaq with an upcoming enrollment of 30 students. The students are usually distributed across four mixed-age classes. The teaching staff is well-functioning and closely connected, characterized by its good camaraderie and cheerful atmosphere.
The village of Sermiligaaq is one of the largest in East Greenland and also the easternmost village in the Tasiilaq area, with about 200 residents, it is a small community where everyone knows each other. The village is well-functioning and has impressive nature surrounding it, with good opportunities for the active outdoor enthusiast. The pace in the village is very calm, and here one has the chance to experience Greenland in a completely different and fully authentic way than in the towns.
Job description:
We are looking for qualified teachers who are passionate about addressing the core tasks of the position:
Preparation of teaching, in the short and long term
·Conducting teaching
·Evaluation of one's own teaching
School/home collaboration
Participation in various meetings and courses
There are several tasks associated with the position, which will be agreed upon at the start.
Your qualifications:
You have a relevant teacher education as a primary school teacher.
You are motivated and goal-oriented.
You handle pressured situations with a smile.
It is an advantage if you:
·Speaks and writes Greenlandic at a high level – good Danish and English skills are an advantage. However, it is not a requirement to know Greenlandic, and the school offers instruction in it if you do not speak the language.
·Has experience with your subjects in a Greenlandic context, and all subjects are of interest.
Uses iPad and other digital solutions as a supplementary tool in teaching.
·Will be a role model for the students and participate in the school's possible extracurricular activities. Here, there is ample opportunity to pass on your passion for your hobby to the students.
Is good at communicating with children from 1st to 8th grade and can accommodate children with special needs.
·Has experience in teaching children with special needs. This particularly refers to attention disorders and reading difficulties.
Ability to plan the teaching long-term and implement any changes that may arise.
·Feel confident in front of the students, speak loudly and clearly, and have the inner calm required in the role of a teacher.
Values a good parent collaboration and is attentive to the students' well-being.
·Is motivated to engage in a flexible and development-oriented teaching environment
Can be part of and help further develop the collaboration internally at the school.
Is welcoming and open towards the local community – the school emphasizes being a part of the village's everyday life.

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
Housing:
A staff housing option can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc., will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If a permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacant housing will be offered a temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., will be paid in accordance with the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff housing becomes available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for household goods are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
