Maniitsoq is located on Greenland's west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle, between Nuuk to the south and Sisimiut to the north. The Maniitsoq area is very beautiful, surrounded by high and jagged mountains with glaciers that extend down to deep fjords.

The town has most modern conveniences, grocery stores, a domestic airport, weekly connections with the coastal ship, and during the summer months, a fast boat route to Nuuk.

Summer recreational activities include hiking in the mountains, fishing, cabin trips, and sailing among the humpback whales, which are characteristic of our district. In the winter months, the northern lights dance in the evening and night sky, and during the day, there are opportunities for alpine and cross-country skiing in one of Greenland's best ski areas.
