The Institute of Learning, Ilisimatusarfik/University of Greenland seeks an assistant professor/lecturer in physics/chemistry with teaching experience. The Institute for Learning is seeking a study assistant/lecturer, assistant professor, or professor in physics/chemistry with teaching experience in physics/chemistry, possibly with other subject combinations within the teacher education program.
The position is available for appointment from August 1, 2026, or by further agreement. The working hours are 40 hours a week.
The institute is responsible for teacher education, which is a bachelor's program, as well as courses and further education. The institute also includes the Center for Pedagogical Development, which is a center in development. There is a group of about 25 instructors and around 160 students.

Any research according to qualifications

You have a relevant master's degree – Ph.D. – or have a positive assessment for a lecturer position.

You have teaching experience in the applied area.

You have experience working with a general didactic and profession-oriented focus.

You have insight into recent international research focusing on teacher education and primary school.

You can use digital tools in your teaching.

Knowledge of distance learning is an advantage.

You can take on large parts of the subjects' competencies, knowledge, and skills.

You have knowledge of the Greenlandic public school and the Greenlandic and/or Danish teacher education, and you can create a connection between theory and practice in the work of professionalizing the practical foundation of teacher education.

You have insight into recent professional and subject didactic research internationally, focusing on teacher education and the primary school sector.

About employment
The employment period at the level of assistant professor is 6 years with the possibility of a 2-year extension. After this, the employee may transition to a permanent position as associate professor following a positive evaluation.
Employment as a study lecturer can take place on the condition of a positive lecturer assessment prior to employment or if the applicant has obtained a study lecturer assessment in the subject area elsewhere.
The employment period at the assistant professor level is normally for a period of 4 years with the possibility of a 2-year extension. After this, the employee can transition to a permanent position as an associate professor following a positive evaluation.
Employment as a lecturer may take place on the condition of a positive lecturer assessment prior to employment or if the applicant has obtained lecturer assessment in the subject area elsewhere.
Assessment and hiring procedure for assistant professor and associate professor position
The assessment of applicants is carried out by an expert evaluation committee according to applicable rules.
The applicants will be informed about the composition of the assessment committee after the application deadline has passed. The committee reviews the submitted applications and makes a recommendation to the head of the institute, who then invites the candidate/candidates for an interview.
Employment procedure for teaching assistant and senior lecturer

Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland's University, was established in 1987 and currently offers 13 different programs, including part-time programs at both diploma and master's levels. The Central Administration serves the entire university. It is led by the university director. The Central Administration has departments in Ilimmarfik. The Central Administration is also responsible for the building operations of Ilimmarfik.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
3 months probation period
In this position, there is a 3-month probation period.
