We are looking for an assistant professor for teaching tasks at the Department of Language, Literature, and Media at Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland's University. WE ARE LOOKING FOR THIS POSITION We are seeking a lecturer for teaching tasks at the Department of Language, Literature, and Media at Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland's University.
The position is desired to be filled by August 1, 2026, or by agreement. The working hours are 40 hours per week.
The Department of Language, Literature, and Media creates a linguistically and culturally diverse research and learning environment with approximately 40 active students and five full-time staff members. The department offers a 3-year bachelor's program and an additional 2-year master's program. The primary focus of both education and research in the department is directed towards Greenland and the circumpolar Arctic, with partners in North America, the Nordic countries, and the rest of Europe.
At the department, the teaching can take place in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.
The department falls under the Institute for Culture, Language, and History, which includes three additional departments:

We expect that you have:
-
Relevant university education at the master's level
-
In-depth knowledge of language research and research on variants of the Greenlandic language.

Experience in teaching and/or communicating knowledge in the field of language research, particularly research on the Greenlandic language.

Language skills in Greenlandic at a native level, as well as Danish and English at a high level.
Your tasks will primarily consist of:

Teaching at the bachelor's level in subjects such as the Building Blocks of Language and Language in Society.

Guidance and examination of students at the bachelor's level

Participation in the planning and execution of professional and social events at the department.

Knowledge dissemination within the department's areas of expertise

Participation in the administrative and collegial collaboration

The employment period at the level of assistant professor is 6 years with the possibility of a 2-year extension. After this, the employee may transition to a permanent position as a senior lecturer following a positive evaluation for promotion to associate professor.

Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland's University, was established in 1987 and currently offers 13 different programs, including options for part-time studies at both diploma and master's levels. The Shared Administration serves the entire university. It is led by the university director. The Shared Administration has departments in Ilimmarfik. The tasks of the Shared Administration include: student administration, personnel administration, servicing the board and the Academic Council, as well as other service functions for the university's staff and students. The Shared Administration is also responsible for the building operations of Ilimmarfik.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
3 months probation period
In this position, there is a 3-month probation period.
