We are looking for a service employee/administrative officer for the Management Secretariat in the Department of Infrastructure, Housing, Outlying Districts, and Emergency Management in Nuuk. The position involves servicing the Minister and the department's employees, as well as responsibility for kitchen functions and office work. Start date is December 1, 2026.

About the position

The Management Secretariat is one of 4 departments in the ministry, which handles departmental tasks within the areas of housing, client role, building authority, infrastructure, outer districts, and emergency preparedness. The ministry has about 50 employees. The Management Secretariat consists of 7 employees and functions as a staff function.

The department's tasks include, among other things, coordination and processing of inquiries to the ministry and to the Minister, handling of cases to and from the Government and the Parliament, mail, hearings, translations, quality assurance, archiving, as well as project management and development tasks. Additionally, planning and execution of workshops, presentations, and on-the-job training regarding internal instructions, guidelines, work procedures, and manuals, e.g., regarding case processing, procurement, service, other internal activities, etc. The department is also responsible for the operation, coordination, and further development of the ministry's central IT systems and digital workflows, including user support, system administration, and implementation of new digital solutions.

We are looking for a service employee/office assistant who – in collaboration with the department's employees and the ministry's management – will contribute to servicing the Minister, management group, and other colleagues. The position involves close collaboration with employees in the department and across departments in the ministry.

Your tasks:       

  • Servicing the Minister and the Permanent Secretary
  • Servicing and meeting preparation for the ministry's other employees
  • Responsible for kitchen functions, including ordering goods and meeting catering
  • Service of office machines and furniture, etc.
  • Purchasing for office supplies and operations
  • Mail handling and quality assurance of incoming invoices
  • General office work, e.g., quality assurance of translations and minor translations
  • Preparation and delivery of cases to the Government and the Parliament
  • Arranging staff events

We expect that you have most of the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Experience in a similar position and tasks serving top management
  • Relevant education or courses in office, commerce, and service
  • Proficient in Greenlandic and Danish, and preferably English at a conversational level
  • Knowledge of Greenlandic culture and society
  • You have a well-developed sense of order, are responsible, proactive, and initiative-taking
  • You are highly service-minded, approachable, outgoing, and have good collaboration skills
  • That you are committed, stable, and can collaborate as well as work independently
  • Are adaptable, have a can-do attitude, and can adjust to working in a hierarchical and politically governed organization
  • That you are good at communicating both orally and in writing
  • That you are a quick learner but can also try things out and learn
  • That you demonstrate flexibility, even in pressured situations

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
