Kommune Kujalleq is looking for a Head of IT, Digitalization, and Information Security

Therefore, Kommune Kujalleq is creating a new managerial position responsible for IT, digitalization, information security, and strategic digital development.

A new managerial role with the opportunity to leave your mark

The position will have a central and cross-functional role in Kommune Kujalleq.

You will be responsible for creating coherence between daily IT operations, the municipality's digital development, information security, and the specific needs within the organization.

This also means that you will enter a role where not everything is predefined.

Priorities must be set. Structure must be created. Bridges must be built between technology and organization. And a clear direction must be established for how Kommune Kujalleq will work with IT and digitalization in the future.

In short: You will have the opportunity to help build the next chapter of our digital organization.

What will you be responsible for?

Your area spans broadly. From stable operations and security to development, strategy, and management consulting.

You will, among other things, be responsible for:

setting the strategic direction for the municipality's IT and digitalization area

ensuring stable and coherent IT operations and development

driving and coordinating digitalization initiatives across the municipality

strengthening the municipality's information and cybersecurity

creating overview and prioritization in the municipality's system portfolio

ensuring professional management of suppliers, contracts, and licenses

developing common standards and principles in the IT area

advising management, leaders, and professional areas on technology and digitalization

translating the organization's needs into concrete and realistic digital solutions

ensuring coherence between technology, economy, and the municipality's strategic goals

leading and developing employees in the IT area.

You will also become an important partner for the municipality's administrations. For us, digitalization is not about technology for technology's sake.

It is about enabling the municipality to better fulfill its core mission.

We are looking for a leader – not just an IT specialist

You do not need to be the person who configures every server or solves every technical challenge.

However, you must be able to ask the right questions.

You should be able to create direction, make priorities, and understand the consequences of technological choices. And you should be able to translate between technology, economy, management, and the everyday reality that the municipality's employees face.

We imagine that you have solid experience in several of the following areas:

Leadership. IT. Digitalization. Information Security. Strategic Development. Change Management. Supplier Management.

Your educational background can vary. The most important thing is that you have the experience and leadership skills to lead an area of great significance for the entire organization.

You understand both strategy and reality

One day you might discuss long-term digital priorities with management.

The next day you could be facing a concrete challenge regarding a system, a supplier, security, or a workflow that is not functioning well enough.

You should thrive in that span.

We therefore emphasize that you:

have relevant leadership experience

have a solid understanding of IT and digitalization

understand information and cybersecurity as both a technical and organizational responsibility

can translate strategy into concrete actions

work in a structured manner and can prioritize among many simultaneous needs

communicate complex issues clearly and understandably

can create collaboration across disciplines and organizational boundaries

dare to challenge existing solutions when a better path is found

can be both a strategic manager and an approachable leader.

Your placement in the organization

The position is organizationally placed under the Chief Financial Officer, to whom you will report directly.

Your function will also be cross-functional, and you will work closely with management, the municipality's administrations, leaders, IT staff, as well as external suppliers and partners.

Larger strategic decisions in the IT and digitalization area are handled at the relevant management level and, where necessary, politically.

Employment conditions

The position is expected to be placed in salary framework 38 (LR 38) with pension according to applicable rules and agreements.

The final salary and employment conditions will be determined in connection with the hiring.

Any benefits related to, among other things, relocation and travel upon commencement will be according to applicable rules.

We are looking for a manager who can see the connection between people, organization, technology, and security – and who can translate that connection into something that works in everyday life.
