Catch and Fisheries Consultant for Operations and Environment

Then the position of catch and fisheries consultant in the Operations and Environment Department might be for you!

The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a dynamic catch and fisheries consultant for the Operations and Environment Department under the Administration for Construction and Environment. We are seeking an outgoing person with in-depth knowledge of the regulations applicable in the catch and fisheries area. The position is to be filled as soon as possible or by further agreement.

We are looking for a catch and fisheries consultant who has knowledge of the rules and legislation within the catch and fisheries area. You should have knowledge of subsidy opportunities for fishermen and catchers, and about financing for the purchase of new boats and equipment. The tasks will be of a varied nature.

As a catch and fisheries consultant, you will among other things have the following tasks:

∙Management of living resources in the Municipality of Sermersooq management area

∙Contact with fishermen, catchers, recreational catchers, fishing organizations, and the Self-Government

∙Processing applications regarding hunting and fishing

∙Advising on subsidies for the purchase of vessels

∙Registration of vessels with the Maritime Authority

∙Responding to various consultations in collaboration with colleagues

∙Development of the fishing and catching industry

∙Has knowledge of the legislation within the industry

∙Interdisciplinary collaboration with the involved parties

∙Case presentations to the committee

∙Secretary for the fishing council

∙Various ad hoc tasks

You have:

∙Solid administrative experience from similar tasks

∙Professionally engaged and proactive

∙Can work independently, responsibly, and service-oriented

∙Good communicator

∙Has IT skills at user level

∙Stable, loyal, and in a good mood

∙Systematic and structured

∙Good linguistic and written skills in Danish and Greenlandic

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Greenland Self-Government, according to the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Greenland Self-Government and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing: No staff housing can be provided for the position.
