The living unit Kangillinnguit and the group homes are looking for dedicated social workers. The living unit Kangillinnguit is one of our smaller living units in Nuuk, and the group homes in Nuuk fall under this. The living unit and the group homes together accommodate approximately 25 residents with mental and/or physical disabilities and substance abuse. Your core task will be to help the residents develop their mental, social, and practical skills, so that they can be as self-sufficient as possible. You, along with your colleagues, will support the residents in living a good and meaningful life, as they wish. The living unit and the group homes have about 16 employees with different backgrounds, e.g.; as educators, teachers, social workers, and unskilled workers.
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. Your shifts may be scheduled during day, evening, and night hours on weekdays as well as on weekends.
Your tasks:
·To work on developing the residents towards a higher degree of self-sufficiency and increased quality of life, including through the work with the residents' action plans
·To motivate and support the residents in daily activities such as e.g. a walk, shopping, cooking, and doctor visits
·To strengthen the community in the living unit through collaboration with the residents, colleagues, and management.
·Interdisciplinary collaboration with internal and external partners as well as relatives
The tasks are solved in close collaboration with the other employees of the living unit as well as internal and external partners, including caseworkers, Ikaarsaarfik, Queen Ingrid's Hospital, and the prison service.

In this position, you will become part of a larger community: We are a department with eight living units, five group homes, two activity and social offers, and three support corps distributed in Nuuk, Tasiilaq, and Paamiut.

Criminal record:
This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
Housing:Accommodation can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the properties of the Government of Greenland and the municipality in Greenland. If permanent accommodation cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary accommodation will be offered temporary housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the above. The start date depends on when accommodation is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses will be provided in accordance with applicable rules.
