The daycare area in the Municipality of Sermersooq is in the midst of an important development. We are looking for a consultant who can support the institution leaders in their work to create good working conditions for the employees in the institutions, strengthen the framework for leadership, ensure sustainable solutions, and help create good conditions for high quality in our daycare services.

The daycare area is a field with engaged leaders and employees as well as great development potential. Like other municipalities, we experience that recruitment and retention of qualified employees place new demands on our way of organizing, supporting, and developing the area. Therefore, you will have a central role in strengthening the framework for leadership, ensuring sustainable solutions, and creating the best conditions for high professional quality in our daycare services.

A consultant role with real influence:

The consultant's role should contribute to ensuring that the leaders in the daycare institutions receive the necessary administrative and operational advice and guidance, so they can be supported to focus more on their leadership tasks, personnel development, and the strategic efforts for recruitment and retention.

The purpose is to create better conditions for stable operations, improve the working environment, increase employee well-being, and thereby strengthen the quality in the daycare services. This should happen, among other things, by ensuring effective onboarding of new leaders in the daycare institutions. Furthermore, the existing leaders should be supported in their leadership tasks and ensure a prioritization of the administrative tasks.

About the position:

The position will be located in the daycare department in the Administration for Children and Schools and will report to the head of the area. The employee will develop an effective onboarding for the leaders and will go out to all the leaders in the institutions and be responsible for onboarding and support of leaders.

The Administration for Children and Schools consists of the following departments: School, MISI & department for support persons for children and youth, Daycare, Leisure & Culture, Development, Health Promotion & Prevention, and the Staff.

The municipality's daycare services include both childminding, daycare arrangements, nurseries, kindergartens, and integrated daycare institutions. There is a focus on ensuring that the municipality's daycare institutions can accommodate all children and create the best possible conditions for development and well-being. All employees in the daycare area in the Municipality of Sermersooq work daily with children's well-being, development, and learning by having "the child at the center" of all decisions.

There are a total of 23 daycare institutions in cities and 8 childminding institutions in settlements in the municipality.

The position is full-time and is located in Nuuk.

Your main tasks:

will be to support, advise, and guide the leaders in the daycare institutions in their work tasks such as personnel management, financial management, planning, follow-up on decisions, initiating efforts that improve the working environment, documentation, quality development, and strategic recruitment and parent collaboration as well as communication. This is to create the best conditions to ensure stable and sustainable operations in the institutions.

Likewise, create an overview and documentation of the general challenges in the recruitment area and keep an eye on competence development opportunities.

Your profile:

·An educational background as a pedagogue preferably supplemented with further education and leadership experience. Or a higher degree in the field, administration, or leadership

·Has experience with leadership in a daycare institution

·Has good abilities to create overview and communication

·Focuses on the importance of good collaboration with parents as a crucial part of practice and has good communication skills.

·Has abilities and understanding of how employee well-being can be improved and focuses on competence development

·Has experience and understanding of change management and organizational development

·Has strong abilities to create motivation and collaboration both across professional groups and also across departments

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
