Timi Tarni in Aasiaat is looking for a leisure inspector who will promote cultural and leisure activities for children and young people. The position involves collaboration with associations, supervision of leisure education, and planning of events. Qualifications include relevant education and experience in association work.

Aasiaat - Leisure Inspector for Timi Tarni

The Municipality of Qeqertalik prioritizes children's conditions and has a special focus on health, health-promoting activities, and cultural leisure activities. The municipality strives to create good and contemporary leisure facilities that meet the interests, needs, and population of the citizens. Volunteer work must be strengthened, and local resources must be utilized better. Facilities for sports, culture, and recreation must continue to be developed, including the development of indoor and outdoor facilities in towns and settlements, as well as support for sports associations and sports halls.

Timi Tarni plays a central role in this work, primarily with tasks within the cultural and leisure sector. There is a focus on associations, sports, health, leisure education, the leisure club area, music, and music rehearsal rooms. Timi Tarni is responsible for creating activities and events in collaboration with closest colleagues, associations, groups, individual volunteers, other departments and areas in the municipality, citizens, municipal and non-municipal institutions, private companies, and not least citizens.

Your primary work and areas of responsibility will be:

Cultural and Leisure Promotion:

  • To promote cultural and leisure activities as well as other general cultural activities in leisure time, including leisure education, leisure clubs, and children and youth organizations in Aasiaat and the settlements, in accordance with Inatsisartut Act No. 5 of June 6, 2016.


Political Cooperation:

  • Work with political objectives related to Timi Tarni's area of responsibility and contribute to translating these objectives into concrete initiatives and activities.


Supervision and Operations:

  • Oversee the organization of and provide supervision for leisure education for children, youth, and adults in Aasiaat.
  • Supervise leisure education for children, youth, and adults in the settlements.
  • Supervise the youth club.
  • Supervise the public library in Aasiaat and in the settlements.
  • Responsible for the operation and activities of the association's premises.
  • Responsible for the operation and activities of the music rehearsal room.


Staff and Management:

  • Recommend regarding the hiring of leaders and be the immediate superior for leaders in the aforementioned areas.
  • Hire instructors for leisure education.


Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop an annual wheel for Timi Tarni in Aasiaat and the settlements of Kitsissuarsuit, Akunnaaq, and Ikamiut.
  • Co-responsible for developing a prevention plan in Aasiaat and surrounding areas in collaboration with the prevention committee and prevention consultant.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the national day.
  • Be responsible for planning and executing cultural and popular education events.
  • Promote events.


Association Work:

  • Promote association work and volunteering within sports, cultural, and other voluntary associations.
  • Handle tasks including, among others, association registrations and keep up to date with the associations' submission of revised accounts, etc.
  • Provide advice and consultancy support for new and existing associations.
  • Ensure that courses on association work, volunteer work, etc., are held.


Budget and Finance:

  • Develop and control budgets within your area.
  • Certify and approve within the aforementioned areas in accordance with the municipality's cash and accounting instructions.


Miscellaneous:

  • Draft proposals for the renewal of grant regulations.
  • Responsible for the development of sports and associations.
  • Provide support and collaboration with other colleagues in the administration.
  • Process applications for grants and other applications.
  • Ad hoc tasks from management.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant education: A relevant higher education, for example, in sports, culture, pedagogy, management, or similar.
  • Experience with association work: Experience working in or with associations, and understanding the importance of volunteer work.
  • Management experience: Experience in management, especially as a public leader.
  • Communication and collaboration: The ability to communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders, including colleagues, associations, volunteers, citizens, and private companies.
  • Planning and organizing: The ability to plan and organize activities and events, as well as develop and follow up on budgets.
  • Knowledge of legislation: Knowledge of relevant legislation, including Inatsisartut Act No. 5 of June 6, 2016.
  • Language: Fluent in Kalaallisut, Danish, and English, both written and spoken.


Requirements:

  • Education: The candidate must have a relevant higher education.
  • Experience: The candidate must have experience working in or with associations and understand the importance of volunteer work. Experience in management, especially as a public leader, is also a requirement.
  • Communication and collaboration: The candidate must be good at communicating and collaborating with various stakeholders.
  • Planning and organizing: The candidate must be good at planning and organizing activities and events, as well as developing and following up on budgets.
  • IT skills: The candidate must be comfortable using IT tools and systems, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and the internet. The applicant must be able to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Knowledge of legislation: The candidate must have knowledge of relevant legislation, including Inatsisartut Act No. 5 of June 6, 2016.
  • Language: The candidate must be fluent in Kalaallisut, Danish, and English, both written and spoken.
  • Personal qualities: The candidate must be brave, committed, and have a passion for making a difference in their community. The applicant must be flexible and able to handle a varied workday with many different tasks.


Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with applicable agreements and regulations.


Housing:

There will be a possibility of assigning staff housing for the position, for which a deposit and rent, consumption, etc., will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in Greenland's Self-Government and the municipality's properties, etc., in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary vacant housing, for which A-tax will be paid for free benefits in accordance with applicable legislation.

OR The start date is dependent on when a staff housing becomes available. A relocation travel and moving of belongings will be provided in accordance with applicable rules.

A staff housing must be vacated upon termination of employment.


Criminal and child certificate:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received a child certificate from the National Police, as well as a criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Commencement on October 1, 2026, or by agreement.
