Janitor in Paamiut

Atuarfik Tuiisaq in Paamiut is looking for a janitor

The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a skilled and committed janitor with a craftsman education for Atuarfik Tuiisaq, starting November 1, 2026, or as soon as possible by agreement.

The janitor's and janitor assistant's responsibility is the school's safety, cleanliness, thus having responsibility for supervising the service staff, cleaning staff, and kitchen staff. When there are events, the janitor must cooperate with the service staff to prepare the event.

Janitor's tasks:

∙The janitor supervises the service staff and their cleaning.

∙Find cleaning substitutes

∙The janitor directs and distributes the service staff's tasks based on the School Inspector's instructions

∙Opens the school at 7:00 AM

∙Closes the school at 4:00 PM, safely (If there are people in the school when the janitor is to lock up, it is the janitor's responsibility to make arrangements for closing and ensure they are followed)

∙If there are events after closing time, it is the janitor's responsibility to ensure the school is closed safely and securely

∙The janitor's responsibility is to ensure the school is closed, doors, windows by 5:00 PM at the latest

∙The janitor's responsibility is snow removal at all doors, windows

∙That all emergency exits are cleared

∙To ensure there is toilet paper, kitchen rolls, hand soap in all toilets

∙That windows and doors are in order, not harmful

∙The janitor holds a meeting with the service staff once a month. The School Inspector is involved if necessary

∙Picking up groceries, etc.

∙Ensures that vehicles are safe

∙The janitor's responsibility also includes transportation, picking up groceries

We expect you to be:

∙Positive, engaged

∙Cooperative

∙Open and loyal

∙Able to work with heavy items

∙Able to handle various tasks, renovation of different things

∙Stable

∙Have a driver's license

∙Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received a child certificate from the National Police as well as a criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
