Nurse for the Greenlandic Patient Home

We are looking for a nurse with an accommodating personality and strong professionalism, who is able to engage in patient processes with commitment and openness. You should be passionate about creating quality in patient processes in close collaboration with the patients at the Greenlandic Patient Home (DgP), colleagues, and the treating departments.

The patients at DgP are characterized by being 3000 km away from their homeland while they are being diagnosed and treated for illness. There are always between 100-130 patients in Denmark with many different needs for support and guidance. Diagnosis and treatment mainly take place at the hospitals in the Capital Region.

The tasks for a nurse at DgP are diverse, but are mainly characterized by being guiding, supportive, and coordinating.

The framework for the position

The position is for 32-37 hours weekly primarily in day shifts and with weekend shifts every 4 weeks. There will be some evening shifts. You will be self-scheduling in relation to task resolution.

You will be part of a house with various interdisciplinary partners, including nurses, interpreters, coordinators, physiotherapists, and various departments at the hospitals. You report to the Professional Leader at DgP.

The work consists of:

• Guiding, supporting, and advising patients in their diagnostic or illness processes
• Coordinating patient processes in collaboration with treating departments at the hospitals and the rest of the healthcare system in Greenland
• Handling medication orders, dispensing medication, and other medication tasks
• Some clinical nursing tasks
• Close collaboration with patients and relatives in illness processes based on a rehabilitative mindset
• Professional sparring with colleagues regarding task resolution
• Teaching and advising colleagues on various relevant topics

We wish for a nurse who:

• Has experience from the regional healthcare system in Denmark and experience from the Greenlandic healthcare system; both coastal and DIH
• Has knowledge of Greenlandic culture and language
• Is good at working with others' motivation, involving patients' experiences and knowledge
• Thrives on putting their own stamp on the function in interaction with partners and patients, including challenging the "usual" mindset
• Has a strong mono-professional identity with a focus on strong interdisciplinary collaboration
• Is independent, has humor, warmth, and empathy as well as approachability
• Is actively co-responsible for creating a vibrant workplace that we thrive in and are proud of
• Has good IT skills, where it is a requirement to work with the professional system Cosmic – training will be provided
• Works steadily and structured with tasks

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
