The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a teacher for Isortoq School in all school subjects.
Isortoq is a village in East Greenland located close to the ice sheet with about 64 inhabitants, of which 7 are school students. Isortoq is located about 100km west of Tasiilaq, making it Tasiilaq's most remote village. Isortoq School has 2 teachers employed. Therefore, as a teacher, you should expect to teach non-age-divided classes.

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon when the municipality has received a child certificate from the National Police and a criminal certificate from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
Employment:
If you are currently employed as a civil servant, you have the opportunity to continue as a civil servant according to applicable rules and agreements with us. In the case of collective agreement employment, the probation period is 1 year. For both collective agreement employment and civil servant employment, earned salary seniority is counted after passing the teacher examination. Employment occurs as a civil servant or according to the "Collective Agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and IMAK for teachers in public schools, etc."
Fixed-term employment:
You will be employed on special fixed-term conditions according to the agreement of February 16, 2007, on employment under special fixed-term conditions. Additionally, a non-pensionable severance amount of DKK 18,000.00 is provided as an annual base amount per April 1, 1991, per 12 months of employment. The amount is adjusted as special supplements and amounts to DKK 20,253.67 annually as of April 1, 2017. The severance amount is paid monthly along with the salary and deposited into a blocked account in a Greenlandic financial institution.
Relocation travel:
Upon employment, free relocation travel is provided for the employee and their family, and the corresponding severance travel is provided no earlier than after 3 years, as well as relocation compensation according to applicable rules.
For both forms of employment, the employee is covered by a separate agreement on group life.
Housing:
For the position, staff housing can be allocated, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Government of Greenland and the municipality's properties, etc. in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered temporary housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. are paid according to the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff housing is available. Relocation travel and moving expenses are provided according to applicable rules.
