The Consumer and Competition Authority is looking for an interpreter for their administration in Nuuk. The position involves translating documents and decisions as well as proofreading. We are seeking a structured and dedicated employee who can handle a busy workday efficiently.
To ensure the professional quality of our external communication, we are now seeking an interpreter for our administration. We are an agency that works very broadly, but we have a number of specialists and therefore also a very specialized professional language.
The Consumer and Competition Authority decides the most cases in the social, housing, and consumer areas. The cases in the social area include, among other things, disabilities, support for children, pensions, public assistance, and other social benefits. The cases in the housing area include, among other things, rules of order, maintenance, and moving settlements. The cases in the consumer area include, among other things, complaints, defects, and services. In addition, there are cases from the competition, nature, and environmental areas.

For these tasks, we are looking for a structured and committed employee who can keep track of multiple tasks at once and who handles a busy everyday life in an efficient manner. It is expected that you can represent the agency in a professional manner.
The secretariat collaborates on receiving inquiries, which may also involve simultaneous interpreting, case processing, and project management, catering, and purchasing, etc. Daily case processing and interpreting take place in the ESDH system Public 360.
The right candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and methodical in their work. Work in the secretariat forms the basis for further work in the agency's other units, and that foundation must be solidly built. Since many tasks are repeated, you must maintain a critical eye on whether the given case differs slightly from the norm in order to adjust the details.
The agency consists of the Center for Consumer Rights, including Atuisoq, the Center for Competition, and the Appeals Center. We solve various tasks and use each other's knowledge and competencies in daily collaboration. We work in an open and informal environment. We are a workplace in development and especially focus on our work processes and on delivering good and effective results.
Your tasks are:
- Proofreading of decisions.
- Translations of complaints and documents.
- Reviewing press releases and news for our website and social media.
- Collaboration with the interpreting office in the Central Administration and being the coordinator for terminology development with the Language Council.
We expect that:
- You are efficient, systematic, and able to prioritize tasks.
- You can interpret case documents, especially from Greenlandic to Danish.
- You thrive in an environment with mixed professional groups.
- You are curious and proactive by nature.
- You are an experienced user of common IT tools, such as MS Outlook and Word.
It is an advantage if:
- You have a relevant education, preferably a bachelor's degree in translation and interpreting from Ilisimatusarfik.
- You have experience with translations in the areas.
- You have worked with TMS review / Trados Enterprise.
