Treatment Leader for Family Center:

We are looking for a psychology-based treatment leader in the family center starting from October 1, 2026 or by mutual agreement.

The position is located in the Family Center in Qaqortoq, reporting to the leader of the family center.

About the Family Center Qaqortoq

The family center consists of a total of three family houses located in the towns of Qaqortoq, Nanortalik, and Narsaq, a place for children and youth, as well as a treatment home for young and vulnerable pregnant women/small children families.

The family center offers day treatment and preventive measures for children, youth, and their families under the Social Administration in Kujalleq municipality. The treatment is organized based on a systemic, resource-oriented, and holistic approach, focusing on the individual family's needs. The treatment offerings in the family center consist of: therapeutic processes, psychological assessments, crisis intervention, family therapy, practical pedagogical guidance and support, educational programs, and parent courses, open counseling, supervision of staff, and consultative assistance to authority advisors. The family center also manages the psychosocial crisis preparedness of South Greenland.

The staff composition in the family center is interdisciplinary and currently consists of a leader, psychotherapists, family advisors, youth counselors, coordinators for family consultations, and early intervention staff. In addition, the family center collaborates closely with other relevant agencies in the municipality.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Overall, as a treatment leader, you will be responsible for the therapeutic and treatment efforts provided to families referred to the Family Center in Qaqortoq, the family houses in Narsaq and Nanortalik, "Early Intervention," and the crisis centers in Municipality Kujalleq.

The tasks include, among others:

Daily management of the treatment groups in the departments, including task distribution, sparring, supervision, and support for the development of staff competencies.

Participation in treatment work, assessment, and referral as needed (individual, couple, family, and group conversations), as well as participation in open counseling.

Quality assurance of family treatment, including ensuring the updating of records, follow-up on plans, status reports, documentation obligations, and reporting obligations.

Professional development, where you help ensure systemic, holistic, and solution-focused practice as well as develop and implement methods and tools.

Interdisciplinary collaboration and coordination with internal and external partners.

Implementation of courses and projects such as Family Development Courses and Manu Courses, as well as support for group processes and other initiatives.

Organizational tasks, such as leading change processes and ensuring that political guidelines are operationalized and implemented, as well as acting as a deputy for the leader of the family center in their absence.

Travel activities to towns and settlements and crisis preparedness.

We emphasize that you:

• are educated as a cand.psych. or cand.pæd.psych.
• have experience in the child and family area in general, particularly family therapy with vulnerable families facing serious issues.
• are approachable and able to create a safe and trusting contact with both children and youth as well as adults
• are holistic and development-oriented as well as resource-focused
• can act independently but at the same time manage to engage in close mono- and interdisciplinary collaboration with both internal and external partners
• are curious and proactive in getting to know a new and different culture

It is an advantage if you:

• Have further education or training in family therapy or other therapeutic treatment
• Have experience in structuring and coordinating treatment processes
• Have knowledge of Greenlandic culture
• Are bilingual and speak both Greenlandic and Danish

Criminal and Child Certificate:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore emphasize that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police, as well as the criminal certificate from the police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and Employment Conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Greenlandic Government and another relevant negotiating organization.

The working hours are 40 hours per week.

Housing:

There will be staff housing available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc., will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, a temporary vacant housing will be offered to the employee entitled to vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., will be paid according to the above. Relocation and moving expenses will be provided according to applicable rules.
