The Family House in Qaqortoq is looking for a youth advisor

The Family House in Qaqortoq is looking for a youth advisor to start on October 1, 2026 or by further agreement.

The Family House consists of a department leader, family counselor, early intervention staff, and a new position as youth advisor, who will work with vulnerable and at-risk children and youth with special needs.

Are you a trained educator or similar and are you a stable, positive, and initiative-driven person? Can you work in a team and are you open and flexible?

The primary responsibilities of the youth advisor will be to:

• Be responsible for working with vulnerable and at-risk children and youth with special needs.
• This includes outreach work regarding assigned clarification tasks related to individual cases, providing advice and guidance, developmental and supportive as well as reflective conversations, and preventive efforts.
• Collaborate with various agencies that children and youth interact with.
• The youth advisor will engage in interdisciplinary work within the Social Administration for Children and Youth, and possible external partners.
• Be a sparring partner for the prevention consultant, as well as actively participate in general prevention activities, campaigns, information work, etc.
• Take trips with children and youth, as well as their families. For example, to sheep farms, etc.
• Provide children and youth who visit the Activity Center with advice and guidance to cope with life.
• In collaboration with the school and parents, create and implement action plans.
• Work partially at the school as a trusted person for the individual child.
• Collaborate with the police and be present during the questioning of children.
• Write reports.

We envision that you are:

• A balanced, inclusive, positive, and initiative-driven person who will work for the well-being of children and youth,
• Fluent in Greenlandic with knowledge of Danish,
• Educated, for example, as a social worker, educator, teacher, etc., or have another education along with extensive experience working with children and youth.

Child certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of a child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has obtained a child certificate.

The child certificate will be part of the municipality's assessment of who should be hired for the position.

Employment will occur according to the agreement between Naalakkersuisut and Atorfillit Kattuffiat / AK regarding the functional agreement for employees in Greenland's Self-Government and the Greenlandic municipalities.
