We are looking for 2 midwives starting on October 1, 2026, or by agreement.
We offer a fantastic opportunity for a workday with significant influence on the organization of work and tasks. You will have independent responsibility as a midwife. You will be the midwife for North Greenland!
About the job
This is the position where you create good experiences for pregnant women and their families. The pregnant women expected to have uncomplicated pregnancies are planned to give birth in Ilulissat. The pregnant women come from all over North Greenland (Region Avannaa and Region Disko).
As a midwife at Ilulissat Regional Hospital, you will independently provide prenatal care, assist in childbirth, and offer postnatal care, and you will participate in interdisciplinary preventive and health-promoting activities. You will also be involved in referring high-risk births to Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk. This also applies to the towns north of Ilulissat, where there are regularly scheduled visits from midwives from the regional hospital throughout the year.
You will be part of a well-functioning team consisting of four midwives who work closely and interdisciplinary with the hospital's other professional groups, including the hospital's on-call obstetrician. It is a midwife team that, with flexible, pragmatic, and good ideas, will create an engaged and positive work environment. We help each other and value a safe and social collegiality highly.
Competencies
- You must have experience with prenatal care and be able to guide others in it.
- You must have good experience as a midwife and be able to independently manage births.
- You must be able to actively participate in an interdisciplinary team with your own tasks.

Ilulissat is the largest town in Region Avannaa with 5,000 inhabitants, covering an area of approximately 550,000 km2 and has about 12,000 inhabitants spread across four towns and 21 settlements. There are great opportunities for leisure activities and unique nature experiences.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
