The Government of Greenland works to ensure a long-term positive development in the labor supply to promote employment in various sectors and increase self-sufficiency in society. It is the Government's task to ensure that the Greenlandic labor market develops positively, both in the long term and the short term.
The labor shortage in the country is a challenge for the labor market, and due to the labor shortage, businesses and the public sector are calling for labor from abroad. One of the goals of the Naalakkersuisut is to improve the integration of the people who move here.
The tasks in the labor market department include the preparation of legislation in the labor market area, including the drafting of regulations and guidelines. Additionally, it involves processing cases of Danish laws for Greenland. A particular focus will be on understanding the legal framework regarding the regulation of foreign labor and managing the department's dialogue with the Danish authorities that have the relevant responsibility.
Organizationally, the position is placed under the department head for the labor market. You will be the department's primary lawyer and will work closely with other lawyers in the Government of Greenland. Your tasks will primarily relate to the labor market and immigration areas.
The tasks are diverse and require the ability to collaborate across language, cultural, and professional boundaries, as well as to take independent responsibility for one's own areas of work. The position demands the ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new material and to be flexible, as well as to thrive in an organization where small and large tasks intersect in a sometimes hectic everyday life.
Things can move quickly in our department, so you need to be prepared for a workday where decisions and thoughts must sometimes be made rapidly. However, you also need to be ready to sit down and draft proposals for legislation, where attention to detail must be considered in dialogue with the relevant parties.
