The Department of Education, Culture, Sports and Church is seeking a lawyer.
Do you want to be part of a small, well-functioning legal department and work on exciting tasks in a department that focuses on both quality in task execution and employee well-being? If so, you might be our new lawyer.
You will be part of the department's legal division, which consists of 4 lawyers. As a new employee, you will receive ongoing support, supervision, and guidance from your manager and legal colleagues who possess extensive knowledge and experience within the department's area of responsibility.
The lawyer reports to the head of the legal department.
Tasks and responsibilities:
You will work across the department's areas of responsibility, primarily focusing on solving the department's legal tasks. The work will mainly consist of drafting proposals for new legislation, interpreting regulations, legal case processing, drafting and reviewing agreements, and other legally focused tasks.
In addition, the work includes general support for the Naalakkersuisut (the minister) and the Naalakkersuisut (the government), including the preparation of responses, reports, presentations, and analyses.
Professional qualifications:
You are a Master of Laws or a Master of Business Administration in Law.
Personal competencies:
You are flexible and responsible.
You have enthusiasm, commitment, and are good at collaborating at all levels.
You are good at expressing yourself, both verbally and in writing.
You are open and proactive in acquiring knowledge about professional matters related to legal work.
You can switch between tasks that require concentration and urgent tasks.
It is a great advantage if you have knowledge of one or more of the department's professional areas, Greenlandic conditions, and have experience from the Greenlandic public sector or other politically governed organizations.
About the department:
The department consists of about 35 employees.
The department is led by a permanent secretary and organized into 2 professional divisions, the Education Division and the Division for Culture, Sports, and Church. In addition, there are two cross-cutting divisions, the Legal Division and the Division for Economics and Study Services. Furthermore, there is a management secretariat.
The department has initiated an internal strategic effort, focusing on high quality in political service, good citizen service, effective collaboration with institutions, clear role and responsibility distribution, and well-being in the workplace.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
