At Angerlarsimaffik Pilutaq, we are looking for a Deputy Manager to lead the daily management of departments – focusing on professional quality, clear structure, and a supportive work environment for both staff and girls.

SEARCH THIS POSITION Employment: July 1, 2026, or by agreement

Do you want to help set direction, create structure, and at the same time nurture the warm, human spirit in everyday life?

At Angerlarsimaffik Pilutaq, we are looking for a Deputy Manager who can lead the daily management of the departments – with a focus on professional quality, clear structure, and a present working environment for both employees and girls.

About us

Pilutaq is a nationwide residential institution under the Department of Social Affairs, Family and Justice.

We host girls aged 11–17 from all over Greenland. Many of them have experienced difficult circumstances in life and need adults who can create safety, stability, and a belief that change is possible. Our pedagogy is cognitive, resource-oriented, and appreciative, and we work in an environment where professionalism, structure, and care go hand in hand. As deputy manager, you will be a central part of this work – and jointly responsible for ensuring that both staff and girls thrive and develop.

Your main tasks

  • Ensure that the institution's financial and professional frameworks are adhered to.
  • Prepare duty schedules in collaboration with department heads.
  • Contribute to and ensure that work is conducted according to the professional objectives and structures.
  • Provide supervision and professional sparring to employees.
  • Prepare status descriptions, development plans, and notifications in collaboration with department leaders.
  • Participate in the interdisciplinary collaboration with relevant agencies.
  • Have the primary collaboration with parents
  • Plan the admission and discharge of residents
  • Introduce new employees in collaboration with department heads.
  • Engage in administrative tasks together with the principal.
  • Step in as a substitute in the absence of the supervisor
  • Daily management of employees across departments
  • Budget responsibility for the residents' accounts and, if necessary, the institution's budget.
  • Decision-making authority in smaller operational tasks and shift planning
  • Collaboration closely with the principal regarding major decisions and initiatives.
  • Is educated as a pedagogue or has another relevant education with management experience, preferably with further education in management.
  • Has experience with placed children and young people in difficult life circumstances.
  • Has good written skills and can prepare status reports.
  • Is clear, structured, and caring in your leadership style.
  • Can maintain an overview – even when everyday life is complex
  • Have the courage to lead and the heart to stand beside.
  • A significant leadership role in a house with strong values and a heart for children and young people.
  • A close collaboration with the principal and department heads
  • Supervision, coaching, and leadership development
  • A work environment where professionalism and humanity go hand in hand.
  • A daily life where you have the opportunity to make an impact and create development.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor can occur in accordance with the applicable agreement.

Housing

An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets such as dogs or cats in staff or temporary housing.

Practical

  • Working hours: 40 hours per week
  • Employment: July 1, 2026, or by agreement
