Avannaata Municipality is seeking a committed and analytically strong controller for the budget department, with the main responsibility for the administration of Culture, Schools, and Preschools.
The budget and controller area is staffed with 5 controller positions that report personnel-wise to the professional management and have a professional reference to the Lead Coordinator in the Budget Department. Currently, we have 2 controllers, 1 leader, and 2 housing managers.
One of the 5 Controller positions is available for appointment on July 1 or by further agreement, in Culture, School, and Preschool.
The main task will be to assist the professional administration in preparing and following up on their budgets. So the job involves both a control and a service role, which places high demands on both critical thinking and collaboration.
As a controller in the budget department, you will play a central role in supporting financial management and administrative follow-up in the area. You will work closely with managers, institutions, and the central finance function. Your immediate supervisor is the head of the budget department.
Budgeting and budget monitoring for schools, cultural institutions, and the preschool sector.
Economic advice and coaching for leaders and administration
Preparation of analyses, forecasts, and management information
·Follow-up on consumption, appropriations, and accounts
Contribute to the development and optimization of workflows and financial processes.
Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and municipal guidelines.
·Budgetary case processing
Development and updating of financial procedures and business processes, etc.
·Control in relation to applicable rules on financial management and budgeting
·Follow-up on Audit Reports
·Establishment of financial key figures/Analysis/Impact assessments
Advise management on budgetary matters in consultation with the director of the area.
·Relevant higher education in economics, administration, or equivalent
Experience with budget and accounting work, preferably from the public sector.
·Good analytical skills and understanding of economic relationships
·Good IT skills, especially in Excel; knowledge of financial systems is an advantage.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the negotiating organization.
Housing can be allocated for the position. An unfurnished staff apartment can be allocated for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the allocated housing. The staff apartment is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
If an applicant already has employee housing through employment in the Municipality, the right to the allocated employee housing is retained.
