Avannaata Municipality in Ilulissat is seeking a janitor for employment on June 1, 2026, or by further agreement. The position is located in the Central Administration in Ilulissat.
About the position
The Ilulissat area contains a total of 10 daycare institutions, distributed across different geographical locations in the city. The janitor is responsible for maintenance and practical tasks around the institutions. The position supports a safe, secure, and tidy environment for children and staff. The janitor's immediate supervisor is the head of the daycare services.
Tasks and responsibilities:

Maintenance of buildings and outdoor areas (snow removal and minor repairs, etc.)

Supervision of technical installations (heating, water, ventilation, etc.)

Purchasing and contacting craftsmen for larger repairs

Supervision of the playground's safety and equipment

Waste management and sorting

Ad hoc tasks as needed from management and staff

Smaller moving tasks and setup of furniture
Competencies:

Has a relevant craft education or has extensive craftsman experience.

Has knowledge of craft tasks

Is loyal to the task

Flexible and independent

Good at collaborating

Experience with caretaker work or building maintenance is an advantage.

Knowledge of Greenlandic weather conditions and materials (if relevant)
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions follow the applicable collective agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and the negotiating trade union at any given time.
Housing cannot be provided in connection with the position.
The employment is conditional upon the provision of a satisfactory criminal record and child protection certificate. These certificates are obtained by the hiring authority with the employee's written consent and are requested from the National Police.
A residence cannot be provided for the position.
