Social Worker

The Administration for Children and Families is seeking a social worker for a full-time position as a caseworker within the authority area, working with children and youth. Responsibilities include case processing of child cases, developing action plans, and collaborating with relevant agencies. We expect you to be a trained social worker with experience in case processing and communication techniques.

The position is a full-time role as a caseworker - social worker within the authority area working with children and young people.

The working hours are from Monday to Friday (40 hours a week).

the tasks will primarily consist of:

Case management of child cases, including the documentation of all relevant information.

Gathering relevant information for relevant instances depending on the purpose and need.

·Preparation, revision of the action plan, and assessment of whether the ongoing measures are still appropriate for the family.

Referral and assessment to relevant instances depending on the purpose and need.

·Conduct conversations with citizens, including children and young people, as well as partners.

Coordination work related to visits, visitation agreements, network meetings, family consultations, placements, changes in placement, reunification, etc.

·Assessment of whether a placement should be initiated. Upon initiation, a plan must be created for a gentle placement in close collaboration with the parents and the placement location.

·Processing of various types of applications, including additional expenses, projects, visiting trips, boarding school stays, folk high school stays, changes in placement, return home, aftercare, etc.

·Conduct annual inspections of placed children and young people

·Prepare a support description for possible psychiatry, the Welfare Administration, or other agencies.

Preparation of a social professional investigation

·Comply with and apply applicable regulations as well as internal competence plans and guidelines

Participate in sparring meetings to ensure a consistent professional approach in daily work.

Contribute to a respectful and constructive collaboration within the team, department, and administration, as well as with external partners.

Participate in social duty outside normal working hours.

·Ad hoc tasks as agreed with the department head or team leader

The candidate:

We expect you to be a trained social worker or have a background in the social field, with a broad knowledge of case management in child welfare cases, including documenting relevant information after conversations, holding meetings, and receiving various forms of correspondence.

We expect that you are used to conducting various forms of conversations, are trustworthy, not reserved, and preferably have knowledge of different types of conversation techniques with citizens, children, and partners. It is important that you have ambitions and are passionate about the profession. We also expect that you can work independently and can be part of a team where collaboration is key. You should be adaptable, accessible, and mentally resilient, as the days can be somewhat unpredictable. You will be part of the development of the administration, where we expect you to be solution-oriented and able to provide constructive criticism.

In connection with the fact that the work consists of about 80% administration, you need to have a good knowledge of using IT systems and be good at expressing yourself in writing.

Travel activities can be expected in connection with supervision or placements, which is why we also expect you to be prepared for this.

The Administration for Children and Family:

The Administration for Children and Family handles the authority area and includes several teams that carry out all case processing for children, young people, and families. The tasks are managed by all caseworkers across different teams and consist of, among other things, preparing social assessments, developing action plans, working on prevention, working with placed children and young people in foster families or residential institutions, as well as young people in aftercare.

The notification duty and emergency duty receive all notifications for the entire Municipality of Sermersooq and process them. In addition, they have individual case files where measures have been initiated.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

A staff housing option can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Greenlandic Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary rental unit, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid in accordance with the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving of household goods will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
