As an interpreter at the Greenlandic Courts, you contribute to solving a socially important task by ensuring that all parties in cases being heard in court understand each other. In doing so, you also help to ensure a fair trial and continued trust in the courts.
The position is part of the interpreting department at the Court in Greenland, located in Ilulissat.
Your primary tasks are to:
The interpreting department translates and interprets for the district courts and the Court in Greenland with many different types of cases. You will gain in-depth knowledge of the many cases that are processed by the Greenlandic Courts.
You will:
- Contribute to ensuring that both oral interpretation and written translations are of the highest standard and quality.
- Work with written translation of legal and court documents or appendices
- Work extensively with simultaneous interpretation and dialogue interpretation. During court hearings, you will most often be present in the courtroom as an interpreter. However, you will also interpret via video conferencing from your workplace or via phone.
We are looking for an interpreter with the following profile:
- Is a trained interpreter, preferably with a master's degree or BA in Greenlandic language.
- Has excellent skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and preferably English.
- Has experience with simultaneous interpreting
- Is flexible and can participate in business trips with judges and court secretaries.
- Contributes to strengthening knowledge, quality, and development in the interpreting office in collaboration with colleagues.
- Is mentally resilient and has a good mood

Salary and employment conditions Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and SIK.
If you come from another city than Ilulissat, we will cover the relocation travel and moving expenses according to the provisions of the agreement. We can also assist with applying for staff housing through INI. Rent, utilities, etc. will be covered according to applicable regulations.
