Greenland's Climate Research Center is seeking a researcher/senior researcher in marine benthic ecology. The position involves leading monitoring programs, analyzing field data, and developing research projects. Researcher/Senior Researcher in Benthic Ecology for the Greenland Climate Research Center at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources The Greenland Climate Research Center (GCRC) at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (GN) invites applicants for a position as researcher/senior researcher in the field of marine benthic ecology.
Greenland's Climate Research Center is responsible for several monitoring programs of physical and biological parameters in fjords and marine areas in Greenland. The center develops and offers educational programs and contributes with research-based advice to the Danish and Greenlandic authorities.
The selected candidate will lead the center's nationwide monitoring of benthic organisms and contribute to the development of research projects in benthic ecology in Greenlandic waters. The candidate will collaborate with and join an international group of researchers conducting extensive research in marine ecology and oceanography with the aim of understanding the natural variations of ecosystems and their responses to new influences.
The position offers broad opportunities to contribute to a research field that, from a national management perspective, is becoming increasingly important with a growing awareness of the sustainable use of marine resources in Greenland. The position provides access to a wide range of facilities, including the institute's research vessels (RV Sanna and RV Tarajoq) and an extensive benthic dataset that is continuously being expanded.
Areas of responsibility

The candidate will have to lead the Greenland Nature Institute's program for seabed monitoring (the sampling program covers areas on the continental shelf and slope in East and West Greenland, 60-73° N)

analyze and report field data as well as research-based advice to authorities

communicate research results
-
actively contribute to the development of Greenland's Climate Research Center's internal and external collaboration

produce scientific articles at an international level
-
participate in regular offshore research and monitoring expeditions

participate in international scientific organizations and networks, e.g. Circumpolar Biodiversity Monitoring Programme (CBMP/CAFF)
Educational qualifications
The selected candidate preferably has a PhD in marine biology or ecology. Newly graduated researchers are also encouraged to apply for the position.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
The Greenland Nature Institute will assist with temporary accommodation until another housing option is found in the private market.
