Translator

The Department of Environment, Nature, Energy and Research is seeking a translator for quality assurance and translation. You will work closely with the management team and colleagues, translating between Greenlandic and Danish, and gain insight into political processes. Qualifications include training as an interpreter or experience in text quality assurance.

is looking for a new colleague to assist with quality assurance and translation across the entire department.

The department consists of about 40 employees, who are divided into three divisions (the Department of Service, Economy and Personnel as well as Climate, the Department of

Department of Environment, Nature, Energy and Research. Under the department also falls Pinngortitaleriffik (Greenland Institute of Natural Resources), Nukissiorfiit, the electricity authority, and Asiaq.

Your tasks

You will be part of the department for Service, Economy, and Personnel, but will become a valued colleague for all employees in the department. You will help ensure the quality of translations and translate texts, and will therefore work closely with the management team and your colleagues in other departments. You will quickly gain insight into the department's work, the political processes, and get very close to the political machinery. You should be good at translating between Greenlandic and Danish, and have a good understanding of making the texts sound fluent and natural in both languages.

You can expect that your primary tasks will be:

  • Quality control of translations
  • Translations from Danish to Greenlandic and vice versa
  • Translation of cases to the Minister, the Government, and the Parliament
  • Translation of bills, larger reports, and letters
  • Ad hoc tasks in the department for Service, Finance, and Personnel

We expect that you:

  • Is trained as an interpreter or has experience with quality assurance of texts
  • Thrives in a busy everyday life with changing agendas

  • Is structured, thorough, and good at ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Can work independently and is quick at typing.
  • Can collaborate with many different people and professions.
  • Has a good mood and thrives in the company of good colleagues.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses for starting and leaving the position, are in accordance with the agreements/collective agreements applicable at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organizations.

Housing

No housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has housing through employment with the Self-Government, the right to assigned housing is retained. The housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
