School Consultant

School consultant wanted for the School Department of Municipality of Sermersooq

The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a skilled and committed school consultant for the Department of Children and Schools under the school division, starting on 01.08.2026 and/or by agreement.

The school department consists of a subject manager, 1 department leader, 4 school consultants, and 3 learning consultants.

The work in the school department shall:

• Set the standard for good school administration in the Municipality of Sermersooq.
• Implementing political objectives
• Have a high degree of administrative and pedagogical professionalism
• Be characterized by clarity, thoroughness, and helpfulness.
• Generally organized in self-managing teams, open and flexible workgroups.
• Complex and professionally demanding tasks are solved in pairs by specialized employees.

The content of the position:

• In collaboration with the school department's partners, fulfill national and local political objectives.
• Handle all cases and tasks seriously, objectively, and efficiently.
• Continuously maintain their general competencies
• Achieve and maintain expertise in one or more of the school department's areas of work.

Concrete tasks for the positions:

• Administrative tasks, tasks determined by laws, regulations, and agreements (Primary School Act, Administrative Act, decrees, and agreements), decisions, resolutions, interpretation of the aforementioned provisions.
• Preparation of proposals for bylaws, guidelines, allocation of responsibilities, and areas of focus.
• Municipal political tasks, presentations and proposals are prepared, research, documentation and impact assessment, advice and guidance for political bodies, organization-related tasks.
• External collaborators other authorities, bodies, organizations
• Internal collaborators departments, advice and guidance for school leaders, administrations, sectors
• Administration of school administrative programs, TRIO, TEA tabulex
• Create and strengthen a common educational and professional platform for the entire municipality's school system, inspiration, observation, evaluation, and supervision of school leaders and teachers, quality assurance of educational and professional development and practice, school seminars and school developers, educational frontrunners.
• Be responsible for school enrollment for upcoming 1st graders.
• AKO/SPO/FRO (SFO leisure scheme) guidance, contact link, and supervision of these
• Contact point for school counselors and advisory teachers for school start
• Supervisory visits to the schools for which one is a contact person.

The consultants have a teaching degree with further education, management experience, or administrative experience within the school sector.

• Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
