The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking an IT and Digitalization Manager to lead and develop the municipality's IT and digitalization sector. The position involves responsibility for IT operations, vendor management, and digitalization across the organization. You will lead department heads, ensure structure and progress, and contribute to information security and risk management.
The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking an IT and Digitalization Manager who will help set the direction for an important area in development. The position is central to the municipality's ongoing work with stable IT operations, stronger supplier management, and a more structured digitalization across the organization.
You will receive a managerial position with significant influence and the opportunity to shape the development of the municipality's IT and digitalization sector. Clear frameworks, stronger coherence, and a common direction need to be established for an area that is of great importance to employees, professional fields, citizens, and businesses.
You will have overall management responsibility for IT and digitization, including the management of department heads for support and digitization, as well as budget responsibility for an area of approximately 70 million DKK. The task is to set direction, create an overview, and ensure a clear structure while developing a management environment characterized by trust, responsibility, clear expectations, and systematic follow-up.
The municipality will take over 1st level support in the new year, while significant parts of operations, infrastructure, systems, and specialist services will continue to be managed by external providers. The takeover of 1st level support is an important development task, where you, together with the department head for support, will help create good workflows, documentation, service culture, and a comprehensive support function close to the users.
The digitalization area must also be built with clear roles, responsibilities, and working methods. You will play a central role in establishing governance, common principles, prioritization models, and guidelines, so that digitalization is anchored in the professional areas and implemented in a structured manner in collaboration with system owners, employees, and external suppliers.
Your main tasks will be to:

Set strategic direction for IT operations, support, supplier management, and digitalization.

Lead and support department heads so that the area works in a coordinated manner with clear priorities.

Ensure professional supplier management, contract follow-up, invoice control, and financial overview.

Create structure, progress, and follow-up on digitalization efforts in collaboration with professional areas, employees, and external suppliers.

Contribute to information security, risk management, and preparedness with clear roles, responsibilities, and documentation.

Organizational placement:
As the head of IT & Digitalization, you will report to the deputy municipal director and be part of the management team in Internal Services, where approximately 80 colleagues work to support the municipality's administrations so they can provide the best possible service to citizens and businesses.
Internal Service includes, in addition to IT & Digitalization, also Finance, HR & Payroll, Procurement, Facilities, Business, Communication, and Organizational Development. This means that you will be part of a cross-functional management team responsible for some of the functions that keep the municipality's operations, development, and services running smoothly.
Criminal record:
This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions
The position is classified at the level of department head 1. As of April 1, 2026, this corresponds to a total monthly salary package of 74,387.13 DKK, including a 10% employer-paid pension. The pensionable salary amounts to 67,624.66 DKK per month.
In addition, there is the possibility of a fixed-term allowance by agreement between the Government of Greenland and ASG from September 1, 2015, regarding salary and employment conditions during fixed-term employment in the Government of Greenland and the municipalities. For example, the fixed-term allowance for a 3-year fixed-term employment without a right of reversion amounts to 12,835.44 DKK per month.
According to the chief agreement, the position has 30 days of vacation. After 2 years of employment, there is the possibility of a vacation trip every other year through the vacation travel fund or a payment of the vacation travel contribution every other year of 16,500 DKK.
There is also the possibility of paid home internet and a company mobile phone according to applicable regulations.
Housing:
A staff housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the current rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered temporary accommodation, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid in accordance with the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff housing is available. Relocation travel and moving of household goods will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
