Atuarfik Tuiisaq in Paamiut is seeking a school principal to lead and develop the school in close collaboration with the community. The school has 160 students and 24 teachers. Atuarfik Tuiisaq, Paamiut under the Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a school principal who is willing to lead the implementation of the Administration for Children and Schools' visions for the school sector.
Atuarfik Tuiisaq is a public school located in Paamiut with approximately 160 students ranging from the youngest to the oldest grade levels. The school has 24 dedicated and professionally skilled teachers as well as other educational staff. The school is an important gathering point in the town and places a high value on well-being, professionalism, and good collaboration with parents and the local community.
Development focus:
Atuarfik Tuiisaq is currently in the implementation phase of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in close collaboration with the administration. The school is actively working to develop the teaching so that it better supports students' active participation, interdisciplinarity, creativity, and real-world learning. The school principal plays a central role in leading, supporting, and anchoring this pedagogical development process in close interaction with staff and the administration.
The position
As the school principal, you have the overall responsibility for the school's pedagogical, personnel, administrative, and financial management. You report to the administration and work closely with the school board, staff, and external partners.
Your main tasks will include:
Overall management and development of the school's academic and pedagogical work
·Personnel management of teachers and other staff, including well-being and competence development
Ensure the implementation of applicable legislation, political decisions, and municipal strategies.
·Financial management and administrative leadership in collaboration with the administration
Collaboration with parents, school board, and local community
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and developing learning environment for all students.
We are looking for a school principal who:
·Passionate about the school and about working with the education of children and young people, and who can lead the further development of the school in collaboration with the school board, staff, students, and parents.
Can set the agenda and create job satisfaction and well-being among the school's staff.
Is open and visible with clear opinions and would like to be a school principal in an active local community.
·Has an interest in and experience with both pedagogical and administrative tasks and personnel management.
Puts the student at the center of school leadership and has appropriately high ambitions for all students.
Can see the value in interdisciplinary collaboration in Sermersooq's schools, regarding development and problem-solving, which among other things will contribute to further developing the collaboration between the school and preschool areas.
·Is a trained teacher or has a similar education, preferably with a master's degree.
Can handle multiple tasks simultaneously without losing overview.
Prioritizes students' well-being and has high ambitions for all students.
Can help create a shared sense of responsibility for students and parents.
·Is visionary and action-oriented
·Has good knowledge of the Folkeskole Act and regulations
·Is familiar with collective agreements for teachers and other staff
·Uses programs like TRIO, Tabulex TEA, and Skoleintra
·Preferably bilingual - Greenlandic/Danish. English is also an advantage.

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
Housing:
A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the current rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary rental unit, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid in accordance with the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving of personal belongings will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
