Department Leader

The Puilasoq Children's Home in Qasigiannguit is seeking a department leader to ensure a safe and developmental everyday life for vulnerable children. The residential institution Puilasoq in Qasigiannguit is seeking a department head as of May 1, 2026.

Puilasoq;

The residential institution ceased to have children in 2024, and the municipal council in Municipality Qeqertalik has a strong desire to reopen the residential institution on January 1, 2026.

The children's home Puilasoq is a municipal residential institution in Qasingiannguit that aims to create a calm environment for the child or young person and to establish safe and homely conditions so that the residents can develop positively both physically and mentally in their efforts to achieve a meaningful, responsible, and participatory life.

The residential institution is designed for 8 residents.

Some of the areas of responsibility;

To ensure that the fundamental values of Municipality Qeqertalik are upheld in daily life.

Ensure a structured, caring, and development-supportive everyday life for the residents.

·Motivate and develop the department's employees.

·Plan and coordinate the daily operations, including duty schedules, meetings, and tasks.

·Develop and follow up on action plans, documentation, and professional assessments.

·Collaboration closely with authorities, parents/relatives, and external partners.

About you;

·That you have a pedagogical education or similar

That you have knowledge about working with neglected children and what needs they have to make daily life function in a way that is also developmental.

That you have a positive view of humanity and the will to ensure a daily life with positive development.

Clear and present leadership style.

Ability to create calm, direction, and stability in a complex everyday life.

Robustness and ability to make decisions.

Flexibility and ability to handle unpredictable situations.

That you have an understanding of Greenlandic culture in daily life is a prerequisite, as much of the work includes outdoor life with hunting and worship of, for example, the catch and similar activities.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the negotiating organization.

Housing:

A staff housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary rental property, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid in accordance with the above. Criminal and child certificate: This position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police, as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
