Department Manager in Medical Technology

Medical Technology is a department under 'Buildings and Construction' that procures and maintains medical technical equipment in Greenland's healthcare system. As the department manager, you will lead medical technicians, act as project manager, and communicate with healthcare professionals. The position involves personnel management, financial management, and project management.

Medico is an independent department under the staff function "Buildings and Facilities," which purchases, replaces, services, and maintains medical technical equipment in the Greenlandic Health Service. Medico is physically located in Nuuk, but technicians have a significant amount of travel activity.

As the department head in Medico, it will be your responsibility to lead the work for biomedical technicians, act as project manager on larger tasks, and communicate with the healthcare professional areas within your field. You will be part of the management team in buildings and facilities consisting of a chief of staff, a technical manager, two project managers, and you as the department head in Medico.

We offer:

  • Exciting and varied work tasks that will be both developmental and challenging both professionally and personally.
  • A position with a high degree of leadership, where you will exercise both personnel management, financial management, and project management, and will have to consider many different concerns.
  • An exciting opportunity to set the direction within critical infrastructure, where healthcare professionals are deeply dependent on the equipment for which you will be responsible.

We are looking for you who:

  • Has experience with or is open to a broad leadership position in Greenland, considering the cultural and geographical aspects involved in such a role.
  • Is trained to handle both administrative and managerial tasks. This could be the leadership training in Greenland or another academic education that enables you to manage the many aspects of the position.
  • Has experience with or is willing to manage both employees and projects.
  • Has experience with or willingness to learn about health-related considerations in assistive technology.
  • Has good collaboration skills, especially when things are moving quickly or when priorities need to be sharply defined.
  • Is strong in communication both written and oral.
  • Greenlandic language skills are an advantage but not a requirement.
