The Department of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture, and Self-Sufficiency is seeking a student assistant to assist with efforts to promote Greenland's self-sufficiency in the food sector. The position requires an interest in efficiency and collaboration with various professional fields.
The self-sufficiency area under the Department of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency is looking for a student assistant to assist with the work to make Greenland more self-sufficient in food.
Student Assistant for Political Development of Self-Sufficiency
The self-sufficiency area is looking for a student assistant to be employed from October 15, 2026, or by agreement. We are looking for you who can join the department and who has an interest in promoting Greenland's self-sufficiency in the food sector.
Together with your colleague, you will assist with the general administration as well as the political development of self-sufficiency in the food sector. This is primarily done based on the Government of Greenland's Self-Sufficiency Strategy 2025-2030, and it is expected that you will assist in the implementation of the Strategy and, if possible, be responsible for the implementation of specific sub-goals.
In addition, the self-sufficiency area manages the grant pool Grants for the Development of Self-Sufficiency in Greenland, which aims to provide grants for business projects, which you are expected to assist with.
Your Qualifications
We expect that you are pursuing a relevant academic education, e.g. Business Economics, Social Sciences, Law, SILA bachelor's in biology, or other relevant academic education.
We further expect that you:
- Master Greenlandic and Danish, preferably English
- Can collaborate with various people and professions
- Have an interest in streamlining existing workflows
- Have the courage to drive projects
- Good humor and a positive attitude
Who are we?
The self-sufficiency area consists of 1 AC officer and 1 department head, and is part of the department HR, Economics, Administration, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency.
The self-sufficiency area is also project partners in an EU-funded NPA project on geographical indicators for food products with 4 other international project partners, running until 2028.
In addition, there is participation in the working group on the development of a new food and agriculture education as well as the development and modernization of existing education at INUILI.
The department HR, Economics, Administration, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency is 1 of 4 departments in the Department of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency, which includes The Department of Fisheries, The Department of Hunting and Game and The Department of Legal and Economic Planning.
In addition, The Veterinary and Food Authority and Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control are subordinate entities under the Department.
