The Tele Authority in Greenland is looking for a technically strong and strategically grounded department head who can navigate security, complex IT projects, and legislation.
About the position
As a department head in the Tele Authority, you will be part of a small but central organization with a significant responsibility. We oversee the telecommunications and radio area and ensure that networks and services support Greenlandic society – from the largest cities to the most remote settlements.
As an employee, you will be part of the administrative engine room, where political decisions become reality. You will work closely with the political level of the Naalakkersuisut and contribute directly to decision-making bases, legislation, and strategic choices, where there is a short distance between analysis and action – and your work will be felt in both cities, settlements, and international collaborations.
Your primary tasks may include:
- Professional responsibility for the security department
- Strategic advice: You will be a technical sparring partner on questions regarding digital infrastructure, including networks and security.
- Supervision and regulation: Monitoring the security of the telecommunications infrastructure as well as technical control of compliance with concessions and legislation.
- Project management and coordination: Driving force on cross-cutting digitization projects and implementation of new technical standards (e.g., in security and internal systems).
- International collaboration: Participation in Nordic and international forums, where you represent Greenland's interests in telecommunications.
- Preparation of analyses, notes, and solution proposals
- Ongoing identification of new challenges and opportunities
The tasks are complex, politically sensitive, and critical to society – and precisely for that reason, professionally challenging and meaningful.
Who are you?
We envision that you have a relevant academic education in IT combined with solid experience from the IT industry or a regulatory authority.
We emphasize that you:
- Have a deep understanding of IT architecture, network technologies, and security protocols.
- Have experience with programming.
- Are analytically strong and able to translate complex technical issues into easily understandable decision proposals.
- Work in a structured manner and thrive on taking ownership of your own areas of responsibility.
- Have good communication skills in Danish and English (knowledge of Greenlandic is a great advantage, but not a requirement).
- Are motivated to contribute to societal development, politics, and responsibility
- Can work in a structured manner in a changing and politically governed everyday life
- Can communicate complex issues clearly and precisely
- Have a desire to work at the intersection of law, politics, and practice
What do we offer?
An exceptional opportunity to make a noticeable difference in a society undergoing digital development.
You will receive:
- A job in the world's focal point
- An everyday life with significant influence and short decision-making paths of great societal and political importance
- Professional challenges where technology meets politics and law.
- A strong professional environment with engaged colleagues
- A workplace with a fast pace, high ambitions, and high ceilings
