Region Sermersooq offers a position of 4 months duration in Paamiut for medical students who have completed the 7th semester. The first 4 weeks from approximately March 1, 2027, will take place as an introduction at Queen Ingrid's Health Center (DIS) in Nuuk, and immediately following that, the remaining time will be in Paamiut until approximately June 30, 2027.

Two medical students are employed. The students work in shifts so that they do not start and leave at the same time.

Queen Margrethe's Health Center in Paamiut is part of Region Sermersooq with DIS as the main center. Paamiut has about 1250 inhabitants. We have 4 nurses, 2 medical students, a health assistant, a physiotherapist, and a number of support staff employed.

DMS resembles Danish general practice in daily life; in addition, we have a duty doctor and emergency room function available around the clock, managed by a nurse with telephone support from a doctor in Nuuk. Steno Diabetes Center is also an integrated part of our clinical daily life with treatment of diabetes, hypertension, and COPD.

We guarantee a challenging workday that will be developing both professionally and personally.
A prerequisite for a good workday is that you are able to collaborate with different professional groups.

All types of patients in Paamiut are received, treated, or referred either from DIS or DMS.

The first four weeks of introduction at DIS in Nuuk will introduce various functions. Nuuk is a modern capital in the midst of the magnificent Greenlandic nature, with 20,000 inhabitants. At DIS, several medical students, doctors, nurses, health assistants, interpreters, etc., work.

Your task will be a mix of the following supervised functions:

Telephone triage, prescription renewal for chronic patients, patient reception in the emergency room/outpatient clinic, where you will work together with the nursing group and the other medical student. There will be general consultations, eye examinations, lung function tests, blood sampling, etc. You will be adequately prepared for the tasks during your stay in Nuuk.

Housing

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic Health Service at any given time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The hourly wage is set at DKK 152.5 (as of February 6, 2023) on weekdays from 08:00 - 16:00, with an additional payment for work outside this time frame.

The standard working hours are 40 hours/week.

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. A residence and work permit can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
