By agreement Full-time On-site 19 Sep 2026 Deadline: 15 Oct 2026

We are looking for a cardiology nurse for IMA in Nuuk. You will work with complex patients and have responsibility for cardiology in the department. We offer a strong team, thorough introduction, and opportunities for professional development in a social department with a good atmosphere.

Cardiological nurse sought for permanent employment at the Intermediate Monitoring Unit (IMA)

Come and work at IMA and help spread the joy and knowledge of cardiology.

Can you see yourself caring for exciting and complex patients while at work, then having time off to go look at the northern lights, kayak, or head out into the mountains with a good cup of coffee?
Can you see yourself joining a team that cares for all types of patients, but where you have primary responsibility for cardiology in the department, both in terms of collaboration with colleagues, training new and permanent colleagues, and updating instructions, brochures, and teaching materials?

Then this job posting is for you, whether you are already from Greenland or considering making the leap from Denmark and moving here.

If you are ready for a new professional challenge or a new chapter in your life, we are ready to welcome you!

You will be part of a three-shift rotation with 12-hour weekend work, but as the person responsible for cardiology, you will have more day shifts than average and have administrative days to prepare teaching and update instructions.

A place with room for development – and room for you

IMA is a unit for patients who need close monitoring and complex care. It is a department where we work with patients with medical issues including neurology, sepsis, mono-organ failure, etc. In addition, we also have surgical patients in orthopedic surgery, parenchymal surgery, or gynecology/obstetrics, and last but not least, we are the closest you can get to a cardiology department in Greenland. Here we receive all cardiology patients who need to be placed in telemetry, undergo CT coronary angiography, or be sent to Denmark for revascularization.

Whether you have no medical experience or have never been exposed to surgical specialties, we lift together and help each other. One thing we can promise – it won't be boring and you will not be alone.

You will receive:

  • A role where your nursing experience is highly valued – and where you help train your colleagues.
  • A strong team that works with telemetry monitoring, High Flow oxygen, CPAP, and much more.
  • Training in venepuncture, Greenlandic culture, and language pronunciation (if you come from Denmark) and otherwise ad hoc training every Thursday.
  • Thorough introduction to the department.
  • Close collaboration with skilled colleagues, including buddy pairing.
  • Responsibility for 2-3 patients at a time.
  • A social department with a good atmosphere and high spirits.
  • Weekend work every third weekend in 12-hour shifts and influence over your schedule.

We hope you:

  • Are a skilled cardiology nurse with several years of experience.
  • Are willing to try new specialties, both medical and surgical.
  • Are curious about more complex nursing.
  • Are passionate about good patient care and high patient safety – regardless of diagnosis, severity, and complexity.
  • Are good at conveying knowledge to your colleagues.
  • Enjoy working in an environment with room for both focus and acute situations.
  • Will contribute to the department and perhaps even take on additional responsibilities in some of our core tasks, e.g., work environment representative, clinical supervisor for our students, etc.
  • Contribute to a good working environment with good spirits and a positive atmosphere.
  • If you are also used to teaching in BLS/ALS, it is a great bonus but definitely not a requirement.

Nuuk – a capital close to nature

Nuuk is a capital that has it all. A city with cultural life, shopping centers, clothing stores, good restaurants and cafes, cinema, and theater.

All of this surrounded by mountains, a beautiful and deep fjord ready for sailing in the summer, with your own boat, cross-country skiing trails, snowmobile tracks, and alpine ski lifts in the winter, hunting reindeer, fishing with a 99% chance of getting a bite, opportunities for hiking year-round, the northern lights dancing above you for almost 10 months of the year, and the long bright nights in summer where the day is so long that you can fit both work and fun in the mountains.

You thus get a perfect combination of city life and rich natural life while being able to work at the national hospital, where all your expertise comes into play.

So, a daily life in balance – If you bring children with you, there are also countless schools and institutions, and what a childhood one can give their children in these surroundings. It is not an escape from everyday life. It is everyday life – just with a better view, more fun activities, more peace of mind, and more time in the calendar.
