In the Medical Department at Queen Ingrid's Hospital, we work differently than in many other departments. Here you follow the patients closely – often through longer illness and treatment processes – and you play a central role in both care, coordination, and development.

We are looking for nurses who want to work broadly, take responsibility, and become part of a strong professional and collegial community in unique settings.
We can welcome both permanent positions and temporary contracts of 3-6 months. You can start from October 1, 2026, or by agreement during the autumn or winter.

• Neurological rehabilitation processes
• Stroke and prolonged illness processes
• Cancer and dementia assessment
• Infectious diseases such as tuberculosis
• Palliative and terminal processes

Rehabilitation is an integrated part of everyday life – even in a medical department. This means that we focus on the patient's functional ability, quality of life, and interdisciplinary efforts from start to finish.

You will have a daily routine with both clinical, coordinating, and instrumental tasks – and experience what it means to wear “many hats” in practice.

About us:

The Medical Department at Queen Ingrid's Hospital consists of two wards, M1 and M2, each with space for 16 patients. M1 exclusively has adult patients, while M2 has both adults and an integrated children's ward with 8 patients. The wards receive medical patients from all over Greenland. We take care of everything from assessment and diagnosis to care, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care – both for acute and planned patients.

The entire department has 26 nurses and 14 health assistants and covers subspecialties such as infectious medicine, oncology, gastroenterology, nephrology, and cardiology. In addition to the wards, there are day units and an outpatient clinic in the Medical Area. The department is led by a chief physician, a head nurse, and three department nurses.

Queen Ingrid's Hospital is Greenland's national hospital and regional hospital for the Sermersooq Region. It is a modern hospital with 108 beds, 70 beds in the patient hotel, and high-tech facilities. Here you will meet a strong professional environment and engaged colleagues.

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic Health Service at any given time.

Salary and employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

If you are not a Nordic citizen, please note that employment is conditional on a valid residence and work permit. Residence and work permits can only be applied for upon agreed employment.
