Do you want to make a difference for terminally ill patients?We have a vacant position as a nurse at the Palliative Unit in the Medical Area.

It is a non-shift position with working hours during the day from Monday to Friday. You can start on October 1, 2026, or by agreement.

The Palliative Unit is located under the Medical Outpatient Clinic in the Medical Area at Queen Ingrid's Hospital. You will be employed in the Medical Area, but your work will broadly cover all patient groups with palliative issues, both in medical and surgical contexts.

The palliative unit treats patients throughout Greenland in collaboration with colleagues at health centers and hospitals, as well as at the Greenlandic Patient Home in Copenhagen.

The palliative team consists of a palliative doctor, 3 nurses, 1-2 physiotherapists/occupational therapists, a social worker, and a psychologist.

We offer:

• A department in development, where you will help further develop palliative care in Greenland.
• Close collaboration with the other staff in the palliative team
• Collaboration with staff and patients at hospitals throughout Greenland and the Greenlandic Patient Home in Copenhagen

We are looking for you who:

• Are a nurse with a broad clinical background, preferably with specialized palliative continuing education or clinical experience in palliative nursing.
• Possibly have oncological experience and/or experience with terminally ill heart and lung patients, as the majority of palliative patients have diagnoses in these areas.
• Have good pedagogical and administrative skills, as there are many tasks involving teaching and guidance in the position.
• Have the ability to engage in an open and equal collaboration with both patients, relatives, and partners.
• IT at user level, preferably knowledge of our electronic patient journal Cosmic.

About us:

You will be part of the Medical Outpatient Clinic in the Medical Area at Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk. In addition to the Palliative Unit, the Medical Outpatient Clinic includes the medical outpatient clinic, which investigates and treats medical diseases in children and adults, the Medical Day Ward that performs medical cancer treatment, and the TB outpatient clinic, which detects and treats tuberculosis patients.

The Medical Area also includes two inpatient wards with a total of 32 beds, including an integrated children's ward with eight beds. The area is led by a chief physician, a chief nurse, and 3 department nurses, all of whom contribute to ensuring a high professional standard and a developing work environment.

Queen Ingrid's Hospital serves as the national hospital for all of Greenland and a regional hospital for the Sermersooq Region. Here you will encounter a professional environment and dedicated colleagues in uniquely beautiful surroundings.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
