The Department of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture, and Self-Sufficiency is seeking an AC officer for the management of living resources. The position involves responsibility for quota and non-quota species as well as the development of management plans. Qualifications include an academic education and good communication skills.
1 AC officer with an interest in the management of living resources is sought for the Hunting and Fishing Department in the Ministry of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency.
Start date: Start from August 15, 2026, or as soon as possible by agreement.
Are you passionate about Arctic management of land and marine mammals as well as birds? And do you want to be responsible for the management of both quota and non-quota catch animals? The management of living resources is a unique area and one of the most important for self-sufficiency in Greenland. Many considerations must be balanced in the management of land and marine mammals as well as birds, and the management must therefore ensure a balance and interaction between the utilization of living resources, sustainable development, and knowledge building.
Tasks
The AC officer will be part of the Hunting and Fishing Department in the Ministry of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency. The primary area of responsibility will be the management of quota and non-quota species:
Development of management of quota and non-quota species as well as contributions to the preparation and implementation of management plans in close collaboration with relevant municipalities and other employees in the department, including ensuring progress on management initiatives and initiating and implementing the upcoming year's focus areas.
Completion of ongoing updates of regulations regarding the protection and catch of quota and non-quota species.
In addition to case processing of quota and non-quota species, the tasks will depend on the political agenda, the content of the coalition agreement, and they will cover a wide range within both management and operational tasks as well as development projects, including information initiatives, increased and better utilization of landed catches:
- Responsibility for and project management of relevant development projects, including coordination of catch projects that are relevant to your main tasks.
- Preparation of decision-making proposals, recommendations, and notes.
- Contribute to ensuring that political priorities and goals are implemented.
- Responses to consultations within the department's jurisdiction.
- General management of the hunting and fishing law and associated regulations that are relevant to your main tasks.
- Participate in quality assurance of material from the department that is to be presented to the department head and Naalakkersuisut.
This is a position with many facets, and we help each other across the department. It is expected that you will work with tight deadlines, so you must be good at keeping an overview and continuously prioritizing your tasks.
Qualifications
You are passionate about the management of living resources, are independent and flexible with a talent for getting into new things, maintaining structure, and keeping an overview. You are self-assured, motivated by challenges, conscientious, loyal, and have a positive approach. It is important that you are proactive and take pride in following tasks through to completion and functioning as the best possible support for management. Since quality assurance of written work and contact with, among others, municipalities are important aspects of the tasks, it is required that you are diplomatic, service-minded, and have good writing and communication skills.
We also expect that you:
- have a higher academic education
- have a flair for data processing and databases,
- have an understanding of and experience with political decision-making processes, preferably from a similar position, or have written a thesis on the subject,
- enjoy writing notes, presentations, press releases, and similar – often within short deadlines
- have good writing skills and flair for written communication
- have good language skills – preferably Greenlandic, Danish, and English
- can work independently and take initiative
- demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility for task resolution
- thrive in a busy everyday life with changing agendas and tasks
- work in a structured manner and be good at ensuring compliance with deadlines
- are good at achieving results
- have a positive attitude and good humor

The ministry consists of approximately 45 employees, distributed across 6 departments: The Department of Administration, Economy and Personnel, Agriculture and Self-Sufficiency, The Department of Fisheries and ESU, The Department of Hunting and Fishing, The Department of Legal and Economic Planning. The ministry also includes the Veterinary and Food Authority in Greenland (VFMG). And Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control (GFJK), which is a subordinate unit to the ministry with regional offices on the coast.

This is an employment as an AC Officer.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
