The Tilioq Disability Advocacy Institution is looking for an AC officer who is passionate about human rights and the disability sector. The position involves project work, communication, and development in the disability area. Tilioq offers an inspiring work environment with opportunities for personal development and flexible working hours.
Are you passionate about human rights and the disability sector? Tilioq may be the place for you.
The Disability Ombudsman Institution Tilioq works daily to ensure a Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland) where persons with disabilities and their close ones can live a life on equal footing with persons without disabilities in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. We are currently seeking a dedicated, structured, and collaborative AC officer with skills and preferably experience in project work and the human rights field.
General job description
The AC officer, with their dedicated project and communication work, provides strong support for the Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities and the entire Tilioq's activities. The AC officer is responsible for both participating in and managing, developing, and influencing the disability sector through projects, campaigns, events, lobbying, and activism. You will – in close collaboration with the rest of the secretariat – be responsible for implementing Tilioq's adopted strategy and mission.
We are a small team where each employee has their own tasks and projects often in synergy where it makes sense. The Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities' secretariat currently consists of five employees, including the AC officer.
Tilioq's primary office space is centrally located in Sisimiut. However, we are open to candidates residing in other parts of Kalaallit Nunaat. You can expect travel activity in connection with the position.
Primary tasks/competencies
Project work, involving project planning, fundraising, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. This is done in collaboration with the project manager and the rest of the secretariat.
Communication work, including via Tilioq's social media.
Preparation of various writings, including meeting minutes, analyses, consultation responses, policy briefs, press releases, reports, grant applications, notes, etc.
Planning, preparation, and coordination of events and activities that we hold as an organization, including our annual seminar and conference.
Various ad hoc tasks.
Your profile
You are sharp, analytical, dedicated, and motivated by the opportunity for positive change in society. Someone who can embrace people's differences, is flexible, and can work well with people from diverse backgrounds, abilities, and competencies. Expectations for Tilioq can sometimes be both many and high from both the public, authorities, and political sides, which is why it is important that you can thrive and navigate in a diverse environment with many balls in the air and a daily life at an active pace, where the whole team helps each other reach their goals.
We therefore hope that you:
Have a relevant academic education, e.g., in social sciences, societal studies, or politics at the master's level with relevant experience.
Have experience in or knowledge of one or more of the following areas: disability, human rights, project work, indigenous peoples' rights, UN, NGOs, etc.
Are independent, flexible, proactive, and creative.
Have good written and oral communication skills in Danish, kalaallisut, and preferably English. It is particularly important to be able to communicate complex, academic, and legal information understandably.
Tilioq is a small unit, so it is important that we find the right person for the position, and we therefore look at applicants' overall qualifications and competencies, even if they fall outside some of the things we describe above.
We offer
We offer an exciting position with great responsibility as well as professional and personal development opportunities. You will have the opportunity to influence the development in the field in a job where you can certainly help make a difference and create results for persons with disabilities and their close ones and elevate the general professional level of the area. At Tilioq, we have a favorable and inspiring environment where you collaborate with engaged and creative colleagues and partners on meaningful, exciting, and very varied tasks.
As a workplace, we value a well-functioning and inclusive working environment and good collegiality across teams. Tilioq aims to contribute to a good balance between work and private life, including through the possibility of remote work and flexible work arrangements. We also have a very flat hierarchy, where we make decisions collectively. A workplace where diversity is valued and the working environment is taken seriously. We hope you are willing to actively participate in maintaining this working environment.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions in accordance with the applicable agreement/collective agreement at the time of appointment between Naalakkersuisut (Greenland Self-Government) and the relevant negotiating organization, including the right to travel for relocation and moving expenses.
The position is primarily a full-time position with a working time of 40 hours per week, with the possibility of a flexible job arrangement, etc.
Housing
Unfurnished staff housing in Sisimiut can be allocated for the position solely according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be allocated to individuals who already have staff housing or another residence owned by the municipality or Naalakkersuisut or to individuals. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the allocated housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the housing, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets, e.g., dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
Application
The expected start date is October 2026 or by further agreement.
If you would like to know more about the position, please feel free to contact the Ombudsman for Persons with Disabilities Qivioq Løvstrøm at tel. +299 345631 or email: qilo@tilioq.gl
