Uummannaq Health Center is continuously seeking Social and Health Assistants

Uummannaq Health Center is continuously seeking Social and Health Assistants (and possibly nurses/medical students) for exciting and varied work.
The town is one of the most beautiful places in all of Greenland and is known as Greenland's answer to Mallorca.

We offer:

  • A position with mixed shifts, where you will be responsible for the inpatient department during evening and night shifts (of course with both a doctor, nurse, and manager available).
  • You will get to use all of your skills and will likely learn new things, as our inpatient department covers all specialties.
  • Furnished accommodation, which is paid over the gross salary.
  • Permanent employment may be possible for Greenlandic applicants or exceptionally qualified Danes. In any case, there will be a 3-month probation period.

We are looking for you who:

  • Has broad skills, especially preferably from emergency reception, medical or psychiatry.
  • Desires variation and excitement.
  • Has good collaboration skills and knows their own competencies.
  • It would be fantastic if you speak fluent Greenlandic. Greenlandic applicants must be able to communicate fluently in Danish.
  • Due to staff shortages, the positions may possibly be filled by nurses instead. You will naturally be employed as a nurse but receive a schedule corresponding to a SSA.

About us:

  • We are Greenland's third northernmost health center and are located 450 km north of the Arctic Circle, which among other things means that the first sunrise is on February 4th and there is midnight sun from the end of May.
  • We have permanently employed Greenlandic staff who help with interpreting but also solve many other tasks, such as Lab and X-ray. In addition, we have 3 nurses, 1 pharmacist, and 3 Danish assistants in temporary positions.
  • We are both a general practitioner, nursing clinic, and hospital for the entire island (around 1500 people), as well as servicing 5 settlements (together around 800 people)
