Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is looking for a development-oriented Fagchef for the Daycare Department.

Do you want to lead the development of one of Greenland's most important welfare areas?

The daycare area in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq is in the midst of an important development. We are looking for a fagchef who can create direction, strengthen leadership, and develop a daycare area focused on quality, sustainability, and attractive workplaces. You will be a central leader with significant influence on the development of the area's institutions and the frameworks that children, families, and employees encounter every day.

The daycare area is a field with engaged leaders and employees as well as great development potential. Like other municipalities, we experience that recruiting and retaining qualified employees presents new demands on how we organize, support, and develop the area. Therefore, you will play a central role in strengthening the frameworks for leadership, ensuring sustainable solutions, and creating the best conditions for high professional quality in our daycare services.

As Fagchef for Daycare, you will be a central strategic leader in the Administration for Children and School, as well as part of the management in an area with high ambitions and a strong political focus. Collaboration, development, and shared responsibility are the foundation of our work. Together with skilled institutional leaders, employees, and partners, you will create the frameworks for an organization that can handle everyday tasks while also developing with an eye on future needs. You will report directly to the director.

About the position

The Administration for Children and School consists of the following departments: School, MISI & department for support persons for children and youth, Daycare, Leisure & Culture, Development, Health Promotion & Prevention, and the Staff.

The municipality's daycare services include both childminding, daycare arrangements, nurseries, kindergartens, and integrated daycare institutions. There is a focus on ensuring that the municipality's daycare institutions can accommodate all children and create the best possible conditions for development and well-being. All employees within the daycare area in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq work daily with children's well-being, development, and learning by having "the child at the center" of all decisions.

There are a total of 23 daycare institutions in cities and 8 childminding institutions in villages in the municipality.

The position is full-time and is located in Nuuk.

Your main tasks

will be to create an overview and prioritize initiatives and, together with leaders and employees, develop solutions that strengthen both operations and long-term development, as well as:

·Work strategically while maintaining focus on operations

·Develop a more sustainable organizational and leadership structure

·Foster a culture characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration, learning, and shared responsibility

·Ensure recruitment, retention, and competence development

·Financial management and capacity planning

·Support the director in bridging the political leadership and the professional organization

·Political servicing and case preparation

·Development of quality and implementation of legislation

Your profile

·Has a relevant educational background as a pedagogue, teacher, or equivalent – preferably supplemented with further education or advanced training within the field, administration, or leadership

·Has experience in managing complex welfare areas, preferably from a politically governed organization

·A strategic leader who can translate political decisions into practice

·Focuses on employee well-being, competence development, and followership

·Has experience and understanding of change management and organizational development

·Has strong abilities to create cross-sector collaboration across departments and sectors

Criminal and Child Certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the national police and the criminal certificate from the police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

Housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc., will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Government of Greenland's and the municipality's properties, etc., in Greenland. If permanent housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc., will be paid according to the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff housing is available. Relocation travel and moving expenses will be provided according to applicable rules.
