A central department head position in Municipality Qeqertalik

Would you like to lead the municipality's facilities and buildings?

We are looking for a department head for Construction and Buildings for a central department head position reporting to the head of the Department of Technology and Environment - Inoqarfik. The position covers the municipality's 4 towns and 8 settlements. You will be responsible for the municipality's construction, civil engineering, and renovation tasks, as well as the operation and maintenance of buildings and smaller technical facilities. You must ensure professional quality, financial management, and progress in projects that are of great importance to the municipality's citizens and employees.

Subject Manager Role

Reference to the head of administration and close collaboration with the political level.

Management of employees and professional coordination of construction and civil engineering tasks.

Construction and engineering projects, municipal buildings, operation and maintenance.

Geography

Responsibility across the municipality's four towns and eight villages.

You will be responsible for that.

·management and development of the construction and building sector with responsibility for planning, prioritization, finance, and professional quality

·construction, infrastructure, and renovation projects for municipal buildings, roads, ports, and technical facilities

·operation, maintenance, and minor repairs of the municipality's buildings and facilities

·development and follow-up on project basis, schedules, budgets, tenders, contracts, and collaboration with consultants and contractors

·political servicing through qualified case presentations, proposals, budget contributions, and systematic follow-up

We imagine that you

·has relevant professional and managerial experience in construction, civil engineering, technology, property management, or a related field

·has experience with construction and infrastructure projects, financial management, procurement, and collaboration with contractors and consultants

can create overview and progress in complex projects with many stakeholders and practical dependencies

·has economic understanding and can prioritize between maintenance needs, construction desires, and available resources

·works in a structured manner and has an eye for both the whole and the local reality across cities and villages

It is an advantage if you can communicate in Greenlandic and Danish, and preferably also in English.

The practical

The position reports to the head of the Department of Technical and Environmental Affairs - Inoqarfik.

The workplace is Aasiaat, but the responsibility covers the entire municipality.

Travel activity in the municipality is to be expected as needed.

Salary placement as department head 3 according to the management agreement between the Self-Government and the municipalities.

This is a position as a department head with both responsibility, vision, and experiences.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Housing:

A staff housing option can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, as well as utilities, will be paid according to the current rules for rent payments in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If a permanent staff residence cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacant residence will be offered a temporary vacant residence, for which A-tax will be paid for free benefits in accordance with applicable legislation.

A staff housing must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
